Buatong was really thirsty after eating sugarcane and bananas.
Do you know how many liters of water an elephant drinks per day?

❤️🩹 Update on grandma Mae Lou ❤️🩹
It's been a month already that our dear Mae Lou left for the elephant hospital.
We sent her there for a stomach issue and a worrying eye problem.
After the first care was given at the hospital for 3 weeks and the stomach issue quickly fixed, Mae Lou has been transferred to a second hospital where the vet team is more focused on the ophthalmic issues.
Symptoms:
Mae Lou's right eye had a shallow ulcer on the cornea. Her left eye showed a deep wound filled with pus.
Treatment:
The vet team is giving Mae Lou injections of Mesenchymal Stem Cells.
This is used to treat severe, non-healing corneal ulcers and traumatic eye injuries.
Through the powerful anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, it can accelerate the healing, reduce corneal opacity and control inflammation.
Results:
The ulcer in the right eye is now shallower and narrower. There is slight tearing.
The wound in the left eye is getting smaller and tear production has decreased.
The treatment is working but it takes time and the vet team estimates a further 4 weeks of treatment.
Thanks to your donations we could pay for the first part of Mae Lou's treatment.🙏
Our donation campaign is still open with the link in our bio if you still want to help.
We keep Mae Lou in our thoughts everyday. ❤️

Baby elephants are very social.
They run, chase and push each other to build strength.
Playing teaches baby elephants how to act in the elephant group.
Chi has been living with elephants his entire life.
He's acting as an elephant himself, playing with Bai Boua, and communicating with her as an elephant would.
It helps build her confidence but also learn boundaries.

A mouthful of leaves, a mouthful of grass...
Buatong is a machine when it comes to food. She's unstoppable, meticulously choosing each addition to her everlasting meal.
She takes eating very seriously compared to Mae Lou and Bai Boua.

Refreshing bath on a sunny day for Buatong and Bai Boua ☀️
CHI JUNGLE MAN
Buatong and Bai Boua are walking on the skirt of the grassland, by the water canal next to the forest.
What's great when you observe elephants in their natural habitat is that they can choose their path and what to eat.
Usually Buatong loves to eat a lot of Napier grass in the middle of the grassland but on that day she chose to eat mainly bamboo leaves and vines found on the side of the forest.
Bai Boua, following her mom, looks so cute using her little trunk to reach bamboo leaves high up.
