🧴Skin Protected. Ocean Respected.

🛡As everyone should be aware, protecting yourself from sunburn is very, very important. The good news is that research continues to demonstrate that the use of sunscreen significantly reduces the likelihood of sun damage to your skin.

Unfortunately, certain types of sunscreen can have a detrimental impact on the health and well being of our friends in the water. Chemicals in certain sunscreen products can bleach corals and negatively affect algae growth, which can affect the larger ocean food chain.

😎Fortunately, newer “mineral only” sunscreens have been found to be effective in skin protection and are non-harmful to our ocean “besties.” 🪸🦀

When shopping for sunscreen, look for “Zinc Oxide” and “Titanium Dioxide” as the exclusive ingredients. You may need to look carefully at the label to ensure that you are buying the right kind, but it’s definitely worth the effort to protect yourself and our underwater friends 🦑while you're in the Sanctuary. Your hosts in the water will thank you!
