FORMAL LETTER OF CONCERN AND REQUEST FOR CESSATION OF THE USE OF THE “GENANYUON” NAME AND IDENTITY
Date: 26. September. 2026
To:
The Management and Leadership
Genanyuon FC Junior Team
Tonj Town, South Sudan
Subject: Formal Concern and Request Regarding the Use of the “Genanyuon” Name and Club Identity
Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: FORMAL REQUEST TO DISCONTINUE THE USE OF THE NAME “GENANYUON” BY THE JUNIOR TEAM
We, the Management and members of Genanyuon Sports Club, based in Tonj Town, write this letter to formally communicate our concern regarding the continued use of the name “Genanyuon” by the football team currently operating as Genanyuon FC Junior Team in Tonj Town.
We have become aware that the said junior team is not only using the name “Genanyuon FC”, but is also using a distinct football club logo and branding bearing the name “GENANYUON FC.” The use of the name and branding in this manner raises a serious concern for our club because it creates the appearance of a separate football entity operating under the same principal name as our established club, Genanyuon Sports Club.
We wish to make it clear from the outset that Genanyuon Sports Club respects and supports the development of young footballers and the promotion of youth football in Tonj Town. We recognize that young players need opportunities to train, compete, develop their abilities, and eventually progress to higher levels of football. Our concern, therefore, is not against the young players, their participation in football, or youth development generally.
Our concern is specifically regarding the use of the name “Genanyuon” and the associated club identity by a separate team.
The name “Genanyuon” forms an important part of the identity, recognition, reputation, and public image of Genanyuon Sports Club. When another football team uses the same name, particularly in an official club logo such as “GENANYUON FC,” it has the potential to create considerable confusion among football supporters, players, coaches, football authorities, sponsors, community members, and the general public.
A designation such as “Junior” does not necessarily eliminate this concern. While the current team may presently be operating at the junior or youth level, the players within that team will naturally grow and progress as they develop their football careers. With time, the team could become a more established football organization and may continue to operate under the same Genanyuon FC identity. This could eventually result in two separate football organizations being associated with the same name in Tonj Town.
Such a development would make it difficult for members of the public and football stakeholders to distinguish between Genanyuon Sports Club and the junior team. It could also create uncertainty concerning which organization is officially represented by the name Genanyuon, particularly in relation to football competitions, player registration, sponsorship, fundraising, public announcements, social media, official correspondence, sporting events, and dealings with football governing bodies.
Furthermore, the use of the name “GENANYUON FC” on a club logo gives the impression of an independent football club that has adopted the Genanyuon identity. This is particularly concerning because a football club’s name, crest, logo, colors, and other branding are central elements of its identity and public recognition. We therefore believe that the continued use of the same name and a separate logo by another team may create an identity conflict that should be addressed at this stage before the matter develops further.
OUR REQUEST
We believe that it is in the best interests of all parties to resolve this matter early, peacefully, professionally, and respectfully.
Accordingly, Genanyuon Sports Club formally requests that the Management of Genanyuon FC Junior Team cease using the name “Genanyuon,” including the designation “Genanyuon FC,” and adopt a different and distinctive name and identity for the junior team.
This request should also extend to the use of the name “Genanyuon” on:
* Club logos and emblems;
* Football jerseys and sportswear;
* Social media pages and accounts;
* Official documents and correspondence;
* Tournament and league registrations;
* Promotional and advertising materials;
* Public announcements;
* Banners, posters, and other promotional items; and
* Any other official or public representation of the team.
We are not requesting that the junior players stop playing football or that youth football activities be discontinued. On the contrary, we encourage the continued development of these young players and recognize their importance to the future of football in Tonj Town.
However, we respectfully believe that the junior team can continue its activities under a different name and identity that does not create confusion with Genanyuon Sports Club.
A separate and distinctive name would allow the junior players, coaches, and management to establish their own identity, history, reputation, and achievements. It would also give the young players an opportunity to build a club identity that they can proudly carry forward as they progress in their football careers, while at the same time respecting the identity and recognition of Genanyuon Sports Club.
IMPORTANCE OF ADDRESSING THE MATTER NOW
We further believe that addressing this issue now is preferable to waiting until the junior players become senior players and the team becomes more established.
The players currently participating in the junior team will naturally grow older and may eventually enter senior football. If the team continues to operate under the “Genanyuon FC” name, there is a possibility that it may eventually become a fully established senior football organization while retaining the same name and branding.
This could create a much more serious situation in the future, particularly if both teams participate in the same competitions or operate within the same football structures. It could lead to unnecessary disagreements concerning club identity, player registration, competition records, sponsorship, supporters, administration, and representation before football authorities.
For this reason, we consider it responsible and appropriate to address the matter while the team is still at its developmental stage.
OUR POSITION ON YOUTH FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT
Our intention in raising this concern is not to create conflict, division, or hostility within the football community of Tonj Town.
Genanyuon Sports Club recognizes that youth development is an important part of the future of football. We support initiatives that provide young people with opportunities to develop their football abilities, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
However, youth development should take place while respecting the identities of existing football organizations. The promotion of junior football should not require an independently established junior team to adopt the exact name and identity of another existing club.
We therefore believe that the junior team can continue to develop its players and participate in football while adopting a new, unique, and clearly distinguishable name.
EUROPEAN FOOTBALL EXAMPLE
This concern can also be understood by looking at the organizational structure of established European football clubs.
For example, clubs such as FC Barcelona and Manchester United have youth and junior teams that carry the identity of the senior club. However, those youth teams do so because they are officially established and recognized as part of the same club structure. Their names, crests, history, administration, development systems, and overall identity are connected to the parent club.
For instance, a youth team affiliated with Manchester United may use the Manchester United identity because it forms part of the Manchester United football structure, rather than being an entirely separate football organization that independently adopts the Manchester United name and identity.
The same principle can be observed with FC Barcelona, whose various youth categories operate within the official structure of the club. The use of the club’s name and identity by those youth teams reflects an established organizational relationship with the parent club.
In our situation, the concern of Genanyuon Sports Club is that the junior team is understood to be a separate football entity while simultaneously using the name “GENANYUON FC” and displaying its own club logo.
This is fundamentally different from a junior or academy team that is officially established under, controlled by, and recognized as part of the senior club.
Therefore, if the junior team is not formally part of the organizational structure of Genanyuon Sports Club, we respectfully believe that it should not independently use the name “Genanyuon” or present itself as “Genanyuon FC.”
A separate football organization should have a separate and clearly distinguishable name and identity. This would allow both organizations to operate independently without creating confusion among players, supporters, football authorities, sponsors, and the wider community.
This distinction is important because our request is not intended to prevent the development of junior football. Rather, it is intended to ensure that youth football development takes place while respecting the independent identity and name of an existing football club.
REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION AND COOPERATION
Should there be any misunderstanding regarding the relationship between the two teams, we believe that this letter provides an opportunity to clarify our position.
Genanyuon Sports Club does not recognize the use of “Genanyuon FC” by the separate junior team as an independent identity that should continue under the Genanyuon name.
We therefore respectfully ask that appropriate steps be taken to distinguish the junior team from Genanyuon Sports Club.
We also request that, following receipt of this letter, the junior team refrain from representing itself in a manner that could reasonably lead the public, players, supporters, sponsors, or football authorities to believe that it is the same organization as, or officially affiliated with, Genanyuon Sports Club, unless such affiliation has been formally discussed, approved, and recognized by the authorized leadership of Genanyuon Sports Club.
We are appealing to the leadership of the junior team to consider this matter seriously and cooperate with Genanyuon Sports Club in finding an amicable, peaceful, and mutually respectful resolution.
We remain open to dialogue with the relevant leadership and would welcome an opportunity to discuss the matter in a respectful and constructive manner.
CONCLUSION
We trust that the leadership of Genanyuon FC Junior Team will understand the seriousness of our concern and respond positively.
Our objective is not to prevent young people from playing football. Our objective is to protect the distinct identity, name, reputation, and recognition of Genanyuon Sports Club, while at the same time supporting the continued development of young footballers in Tonj Town.
We believe that mutual respect for the identity of football organizations will contribute to a stronger, more organized, transparent, and peaceful football environment in Tonj Town.
Genanyuon Sports Club remains committed to supporting football development, nurturing talent, promoting sportsmanship, and contributing positively to the sporting community of Tonj Town. We equally believe that these objectives can be achieved while ensuring that each football team maintains a unique and clearly identifiable name and identity.
We therefore respectfully request your cooperation in discontinuing the use of the “GENANYUON FC” name and associated branding by the junior team and in selecting an alternative name that is clearly distinguishable from Genanyuon Sports Club.
We look forward to receiving your response and hope that this matter can be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding, cooperation, and respect, without the need for unnecessary disagreement or conflict.
Thank you for your attention, understanding, and cooperation.
Yours faithfully,
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF GENANYUON SPORTS CLUB
