OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

The Fr. John Lee Memorial Inter-Schools Football Tournament Committee informs all schools and the public that there will be no games at Tonj Freedom Square on Saturday, 19th July 2025, due to a public rally by the State Governor, Hon. Bol Wek. We encourage everyone to attend and listen to the Governor’s message.

However, the girls’ match will proceed as scheduled at 3:30 PM in Senaiya (Kalkuel) Field.

To avoid affecting the tournament schedule and learners’ academic performance, the postponed matches are rescheduled for Sunday morning:

• Bongo ALP VS St. Bakhita Primary Schools: 8:00–10:20 AM

• Rainbow College VS Tonj Secondary: 10:30–12:30 PM

While other Sunday games will continue as planned.

Tomorrow marks the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Fr. John Lee Memorial Inter-Schools Football Tournament – 2nd Edition. The day will begin with a procession in honor of the late Dr. Fr. John Lee, recognizing his outstanding service to the Tonj community.

🎤 The event will feature inspirational speeches, cultural entertainment, and community participation leading up to the highly anticipated opening match between St. Bakhita High School and Don Bosco High School.

The event will be officially opened by Hon. Ayitiak Warwien, Commissioner of Tonj South County.

Come and be part of this momentous day as we celebrate unity, education, and sports in memory of a true hero.

📢 Following feedback from schools regarding the tournament fixtures, we’ve been advised to speed up the schedule to avoid interfering with students’ academic calendar and exam performance.

In response, slight changes have been made: starting Wednesday, two matches will be played daily at Tonj Freedom Square:

》 Primary school matches will kick off at 1:30 p.m.

》followed by secondary school matches at 3:30 PM.

Kindly take note of these adjustments and plan accordingly.

We are delighted to invite you to the Grand Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Edition of the Fr. John Lee Memorial Inter-Schools Football Tournament, taking place on Tuesday, 15th July 2025 at Tonj Freedom Square.

🕜 1:30 PM – The event will commence with a symbolic procession from the Oratory, led by school children to honor the enduring legacy of Fr. John Lee, a man whose sacrifice and compassion touched countless lives during our most difficult times.

⚽ 3:00 PM – The excitement begins with the opening match:

St. Bakhita Secondary School (Defending Champions) VS. Don Bosco Secondary School

The day will be graced by Tonj South Commissioner Hon. Ayitiak Warwien, County Education Director Mr. Kharbino Bith, all the esteemed school principals and headmasters, religious and community leaders, students, and passionate football fans from across the region.

This tournament is more than a game—it's a celebration of unity, education, and the youth who represent the hope of our future.
