After a month, we're finally excited to share the highlights of one of the most meaningful activities of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞; 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧' 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲!

On June 6, we brought together 62 children from Children's Home and approximately 30 senior residents from for a day filled with laughter, learning, and genuine human connection.

Through traditional Surinamese games (Fosten' Preys), we celebrated more than just fun. The day was all about building bridges between generations, sharing knowledge, preserving our cultural heritage, and creating lasting memories. Watching children and seniors laugh together, encourage one another, and exchange stories reminded us why projects like this truly matter.

From shampoo, tien-koko to checkerboard game, every activity strengthened the bond between young and old while keeping our rich cultural traditions alive for future generations.

💚 This memorable day would not have been possible without the incredible support of our partners and supporters.

🇸🇷 A heartfelt thank you to the National Army of Suriname MinDef Suriname for providing safe transportation to and from the venue.

🚒 Thank you to the Suriname Fire Department Korps Brandweer Suriname for ensuring everyone's safety and providing medical support throughout the event.

🤝 Our sincere appreciation goes to the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports van Jeugdontwikkeling & Sport for their valued partnership. Their dedicated sports leaders enthusiastically guided the traditional games and helped make the day an unforgettable experience.

Gister 24.06.2026 hebben de jongeren van Kinderhuis Nos Kasita deelgenomen aan een inspirerende Personal Development Sessie, verzorgd door trainer Harvey Klas.

Tijdens de sessie werden de jongeren uitgedaagd om na te denken over hun dromen, doelen en toekomst. Harvey nam hen mee in het belang van het hebben van een duidelijke visie, discipline en de motivatie om ondanks uitdagingen te blijven werken aan hun persoonlijke ontwikkeling.

Wij willen Harvey hartelijk bedanken voor zijn waardevolle bijdrage, zijn betrokkenheid en de manier waarop hij de jongeren wist te inspireren en begeleiden. Hun vragen, openheid en enthousiasme maakten duidelijk dat er behoefte is aan begeleiidng en verdieping. Daarom kijken wij al uit naar een mogelijke tweede sessie en werken wij hard om dit te realiseren.

Voor ons was deze sessie bovendien een echte eye-opener. Het gaf ons de kans om de diverse ambities, dromen en behoeften van de jongeren beter te leren kennen. Wij kijken ernaar uit om hen de komende jaren te zien groeien, ontwikkelen en uitgroeien tot de beste versie van zichzelf🌱💚.

Personal Development for the Juniors

Yesterday, the youth of Nos Kasita Children's Home participated in an inspiring Personal Development Session facilitated by trainer Harvey Klas.

During the session, the participants were encouraged to reflect on their dreams, goals, and future aspirations. Harvey guided them through the importance of having a vision, maintaining discipline, and staying motivated to pursue their goals despite challenges.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Harvey for his valuable contribution, dedication, and ability to connect with and inspire the young participants. Their curiosity, questions, and active participation clearly demonstrates a desire for deeper learning and continued guidance. As a result, we are already exploring opportunities to organize a second session.

For us, this session was also an eye-opener. It allowed us to gain deeper insight into the diverse ambitions, dreams, and needs of the young people we serve. We look forward to seeing them apply what they have learned and, in the years ahead, flourish into the best versions of themselves🌱💚.

Agriculture for the Juniors 🌱👩🏽‍🌾👨🏽‍🌾

Op zaterdag 20 juni hebben wij met succes een inspirerende landbouwtraining verzorgd aan de jongeren van Kinderhuis Nos Kasita in het kader van The Evergreen Exchange.

De sessie werd verzorgd door de heer Rakesh Jhagroe, die met zijn jarenlange ervaring op het gebied van landbouw en visserij de jongeren op een praktische en interactieve manier kennis heeft laten maken met de basisprincipes van landbouw, ondernemerschap en de mogelijkheden om hiermee inkomsten te genereren.

✨ Een bijzonder hoogtepunt van de dag was de bijdrage van de 7-jarige dochter van de heer Jhagroe. Zij deelde haar eigen ervaringen in de landbouw en vertelde hoe zij omgaat met haar verdiensten en welke doelen zij op korte en lange termijn wil bereiken. Een prachtig voorbeeld van "Each One, Teach One" en een inspiratie voor de aanwezige jongeren.

🌱 Tijdens de training ontving iedere deelnemer een eigen boulangerplantje om te planten en mee naar huis te nemen. De jongeren kregen de opdracht om de komende twee weken zorg te dragen voor hun plantje en hun ervaringen bij te houden.

Over twee weken zetten we samen de volgende stap wanneer we de moestuin bij Emma nieuw leven zullen inblazen en de opgedane kennis in de praktijk zullen brengen.

🙏 Speciale dank aan Garden Plantnursery voor de gulle donatie van de boulangerplantjes en hun bijdrage aan de ontwikkeling van onze jongeren.

Agriculture for the Juniors 👩🏽‍🌾👨🏽‍🌾🌱

On Saturday, June 20, we successfully hosted an engaging agricultural training session for the youth of Nos Kasita as part of The Evergreen Exchange.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Rakesh Jhagroe, who, drawing from his extensive experience in agriculture and fisheries, introduced the participants to the fundamentals of farming, entrepreneurship, and how agriculture can become a source of income and opportunity.

✨ One of the highlights of the day was the inspiring contribution of Mr. Jhagroe’s 7-year-old daughter. She shared her own experiences in agriculture, spoke about how she manages her earnings, and explained her short- and long-term goals within the sector. A true example of "Each One, Teach One", proving that age is no barrier to making an impact.

🌱 Each participant received a Aubergine seedling to plant and take home. Their assignment is to care for the plant over the next two weeks and monitor its growth.

In two weeks, we will take the next step by revitalizing the community garden at Huize Emma, where the youth will put their newly acquired knowledge into practice.
