I haven't bought ginger from the grocery store in 5 years, and honestly, I feel a little smug about it every time I dig up fresh rhizomes from my kitchen windowsill. That overpriced, shriveled ginger at the store has up to 3x LESS of the good stuff (gingerol) than what you can grow at home. Here's the thing nobody tells you: you can start your endless ginger supply with one organic rhizome from the produce section, and it's shockingly easier than keeping a houseplant alive. [adUyh]
