Started 15 years ago with a simple belief: passion over perfection. Appendix Ultimate has grown into a wholesome, supportive community. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers and EXCO members, the group continues to welcome new players, bringing people together through sport.
While they occasionally compete in tournaments, they are driven by friendship and the love of the game, more than a desire to win. Even as the founding team has evolved, that original spirit lives on.

At the recent spexAthletes Investiture, 247 athletes were inducted across our spexScholarship and spexPotential programmes, alongside five spexEducation Undergraduate Scholarship recipients—our largest cohort yet!
This reflects a strengthening Team Singapore pipeline, with nine athletes progressing from spexPotential to spexScholarship this year, alongside new promising recruits across both programmes. Beyond sport, Sport Excellence Singapore (SpexSG) is enhancing holistic support across education, careers and personal development—empowering athletes to perform with confidence and sustain longer sporting journeys.
As we look towards the 2029 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, continued investment in our athletes remains key to success on the regional and world stage.
Congratulations to our 2026 cohort—we are proud to be on this journey with you!

Heritage comes alive when it is experienced.
At the Sea Sports Heritage Fest 2026, we brought Singapore’s maritime sporting story to life at the Kallang waterfront through sport, shared experiences and community participation.
From water-based sport tryouts to heritage trails and exhibitions, the festival showed how our sea sports scene is deeply rooted in our maritime past and continues to evolve as a vibrant part of our sporting landscape.
By integrating heritage with sport, we create inclusive spaces for Singaporeans to learn, play and connect — strengthening our shared identity and appreciation of the stories that shape us.
Fuelled by passion and love for the lacrosse game, what started as a niche sports group in JC evolved into CrosseFire, with a mission to bring the sport to more people.
With their Learn-to-Lax sessions open to all, anyone can step in, pick up a stick and learn to play. Backed by a committee dedicated to educating and uplifting the community, strangers become teammates—and then friends through play.
That same spirit carried into the Singapore Urban Sports + Fitness Festival (SGUSFF). Through hands on activities like passing and shooting, the public got a chance to experience lacrosse firsthand.
Because when a sport is open to all, it sparks curiosity—and that first try could be the start of something more.
You don’t always see the people shaping sport, but you feel their impact everywhere. The true 12th Man often works quietly behind the scenes, making the system stronger for everyone in it.
Meet Lee Kai Yang, former National Water Polo goalkeeper turned Sports Business Consultant at Deloitte. Drawing from his experience in the pool, he now applies a strategic, systems-level lens to identify gaps, streamline processes, and support athletes and NSAs alike.
He may no longer wear the cap, but he’s still very much in the game – quietly, purposefully, and proudly giving back to the sporting ecosystem he thrived in, and paving the way for others.
The Major Games may have ended, but what it took to get there does not.
Across different paths, each journey was shaped by years of training, the discipline of selection, and the steady work required to reach this stage. What is seen in competition is only a moment within something much longer.
No athlete arrives here alone. Behind every performance is a network of support—coaches, teammates, families, and those who make the journey possible, often beyond what is visible.
Together, they show that excellence is built over time, carried by more than one. And as this chapter closes, a quiet recognition of every athlete, and everyone who stood beside them along the way.
Onwards to the next Games, ! 🇸🇬

Loh Heng Chew, a sportsman who showed us that true greatness lies not only in victory, but in the way the game is played — with integrity, grit, and heart.
Thank you for the inspiration you leave behind. 🕊️
1 April 2026 - Today marks a significant milestone as we formalise the operations of Sport Excellence Singapore (SpexSG). SpexSG integrates the High Performance Sport Institute (HPSI), Singapore Sports School (SSP) and Unleash the Roar! (UTR!) to create a stronger and more integrated support system for Team Singapore athletes, coaches, sport professionals and administrators.
SpexSG will chart the strategic direction for Singapore’s high performance sport system and drive greater synergy providing more seamless support across the youth-to-senior pathway, strengthening coordination among stakeholders, and improving *the* integration of athlete support services.
Behind every athlete is a village — and together, we will propel Team Singapore further and higher.
