*** Real leadership shows up in hard conversations ***
This week, with the The Moment Before team, ran a workshop with Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN) on cultural flexibility and conflict as a crucible for leadership.
It was theatre based and interactive. Seven actors roleplaying real world challenges from seven different cultural lenses. The moment the SGLN fellows entered the rooms with the different characters, you could feel the ‘juju’ shift.
The SGLN Fellows weren’t just there to observe, they were in the thick of it. They had to notice how they showed up under pressure and conflict. Tone. Timing. Body language. Whether they rushed to fix, avoided tension, or stayed present when things got uncomfortable.
This blend of live theatre and real leadership challenges is where much of our work sits. Using performance tools to rehearse moments leaders rarely get to practise. Conflict. Presence. Storytelling. Influence. The moments where voice, behaviour and intention are fully visible.
The group talked about fostering visibility in teams. How humanity in the workplace is really allowing people the space to be seen and heard from where they are. How psychological safety is built through repeated patterns. How trust is earned through care, consistency and compassion, especially when things are unresolved. How audacious it is to be a human in a corporate environment. How real leadership is being of service to your team in all moments.
Participants left with more awareness and more range in how they respond when the temperature rises. The goal for them wasn’t perfection but progress.
The challenge to them was:
How can I be 1% better with every conversation?
Thank you to SGLN and the entire Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) for continuing to trust this kind of work and having Kamil on board as a faculty member from day zero.
Three cheers to the third run of the fellowship. May this network inspire more opportunities for global roles led by Singaporeans!

Today marks 2 years and 20 sessions of working with various emerging leaders from to teach them tools and skills to be better with pitching and storytelling. More importantly, how to prepare more methodically, how to show up fully and lead their teams with enthusiasm. Beyond the story, it’s also about preparing the storyteller. To some extent, it doesn’t matter what framework or model you use if the person delivering the content is not inspired or interested in their own work and self.
We’ve been delivering corporate training services to teams and individuals for 13 years now and we look forward to sharing more. If you or someone you know is interested in supercharging your work, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]

Answer B) Emotional Intelligence 🧠🤍
Recent research from the Center for Creative Leadership emphasizes that emotional intelligence (EI) is extremely vital for effective leadership. The 2023 study reveals that leaders with high EI are more successful in creating positive workplace cultures and boosting employee engagement.
It outlines four key components of EI—self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management—that enable leaders to inspire their teams effectively.
For further insights, check out the full articles from Korn Ferry and the Center for Creative Leadership.
