Today we go to Uruguay for a player who was born in Paysandú. He went through the youth ranks at Danubio and made his senior debut in 2003. In 2007, he moved to Italy to join Napoli, winning the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana there.

He spent a season on loan at Inter in 2012-13 and Parma in 2013-14. In 2015, he moved to Mexican club Monterrey. In 2017, he returned to Uruguay to join Penarol, winning the Uruguayan Primera División and Supercopa Uruguaya twice. In 2023, he moved to Argentina to join River Plate, and he retired in 2024 at Durazno.

He represented Uruguay at the 2007 Copa America, 2010 World Cup and was part of the squad to win the 2011 Copa America. He also played at the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup.
