There are no uniforms here, no worksheets, and some days, very little sitting still. ๐
But our Playmakers are often there for some pretty important firstsโฆ
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ they wave goodbye to Mum or Dad.
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ they learn that another grown-up can be someone safe to turn to.
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ friendships negotiated over blocks, and who-had-it-first.
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ a question becomes an investigation, or โI canโtโ quietly becomes โI did it.โ
We get to nurture their curiosity, help them grow a little more independent, and perhaps most importantly, protect some space for them to simply be children.
And because weโre still children at heart ourselves, we havenโt forgotten what it feels like to be one. We nurture with curiosity, humour, patience, a willingness to get on the floor, and a genuine belief that play is important work.
So, to our Playmakers, and to everyone who teaches, guides, nurtures and makes space for children in ways big and small: hereโs to all the wondering, wobbling, trying, failing, laughing, growing and trying again.
