This was Seychelles first Olympiad team led by then Chairman of the Seychelles Chess Federation Rowny Vidot in Dubai Nov 1986.
This was under another Seychelles Flag which at the time was 3 colors (Red, White and Green)

Seychelles brought along a male team of:

Gerard Renaud
Bernard Mabile
James Sicobo
Richard Batin

And a Female Team of:

Ingrid Rusteau
Paule Domingue
Muriel Marie

This was at a time where the woman's Olympiad were limited to 3 players and one reserve per team.

This was 8 years after the Seychelles Chess federation was legitimized as the representative body for chess in Seychelles in 1978 at a FIDE Congress held in Buenos Aires. Accompanying the teams was also Press Officer/Photographer Mr. Conrad Berlouis

A Look into that Past

Before Castles is a place which aims to be an essential force in the growth of Seychelles Chess. However, it also wants to represent the sport by educating everyone of what chess in Seychelles looked like prior to today.

So Keep your eyes peeled for future posts on not only chess in future but also for posts on where we come from and the many milestones of Seychelles Chess that built the framework many of us benefit from today.

Final Summary

International Chess Day brought the Donation of Chess Sets to all of our schools.

It brought a day of fun filled competition which saw Perseverance Secondary rise to first whilst Children's House defended their title once more

But most of all it brought people together. Thank you to the Ministry of Education, Library committee and everyone else who had a part to play.
