Ega has a few longer runs under his belt but this was his biggest distance to date.

One difference in his prep this time is that we worked together to maintain a strength programme all the way up until race day.

I helped him managed the correct volume, load and movement selection and he put in the work.

He was able to complete the race feeling strong and confident that his body was strong and capable enough to do the job well!

Running a marathon in my opinion is an incredible feat of mental and physical strength and resilience.

It’s not just what gets done on the day it’s the willingness to commit to weeks and months of prep in the build up.

Proud coach moment being able to see Ega cross the finish line this past weekend… apparently it’s an ultra next 😏💪

No you aren’t tired because you didn’t have your pre workout energy drink.

You’re tired because you haven’t had a carb since about 2008.

The sooner we all stop kidding on ‘we don’t have time to eat’ before a workout the better.

And if you’re still worried about how many calories your workout burns and if carbs might prevent it… you’re faaackin miles off.

Fuel up, Work hard… enjoy your F’in workouts.

It’s not the ‘kinda chic’ trend but still read them, thanks.

I teach all of my clients what data to track and why.

I provide them with simple systems to collect the data and give them regular feedback on the results.

This builds confidence, understanding and autonomy so they don’t need me forever.

Tracking data seems like a hassle until you start seeing clarity as a result of doing it.

Make your tracking systems/routines easy to use and it won’t be such a drag.

Focus for 6-8 weeks, slack off, regress and circle back around to their original starting point.

Then just proceed to repeat this same cycle over and over again.

Progress is made then lost and you never actually continue to improve.

My system teaches my clients to have a plan after the plan.

Our two phased approach means that when we finish making progress in one area (fat loss) we switch to making progress in another (performance)

This not only structures your year but it means you continue to build on and benefit from the progress made in the previous phase.

Regardless of what your goal is, building or maintaining muscle mass should be high on your list of priorities.

As we age we lose muscle, when we diet harshly we lose muscle, when we don’t train we lose muscle.

All of this contributes to a slower metabolic rate, less ability to perform and even injury risks as we age.

Programme design is one of my favourite parts of the job and I take great pride in building progressive plans for each of my clients.

Carefully curated to compliment the phase and goal but all allowing my clients to meet the initial key point…

Always be trying to build or maintain muscle.

If any of this resonated with you, made you think twice about what you’re not doing or maybe even what you’re doing wrong…

I want to hear from you and I want to help you.

September is approaching and I have availability for 1-1 coaching for those looking to get in shape without sacrificing getting stronger and fitter.

DM ‘💪’ and I’ll be in touch with more info!
