A New Chapter for Pakistani Cycling.
"Audax Comes Home"
Assalam-o-Alaikum, and warm greetings to the cycling community of Pakistan and the world.
It is with deep pride and humility that I share a milestone very close to my heart: I have been nominated as the official representative of Audax in Pakistan, entrusted to carry the century-old tradition of the Audax Club Parisien (Paris) to the roads and mountains of our country.
Let me explain what this truly means.
Audax is not just another cycling club.
It will not ask you to leave your club, your team, or your riding group. Quite the opposite, it exists to serve every cyclist and every club. Its single purpose is to organize purposeful, long-distance rides, called "brevets", where riders do not race one another but instead conquer distance, time, and their own limits: self-supported and in the true spirit of camaraderie.
Founded in Paris on 30 November 1904, the Audax Club Parisien became the custodian of randonneuring – long-distance cycling completed within a set time limit, at one's own pace. Since 1976, the rides it certifies beyond France have been recognised worldwide as Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRM), ridden today across the UK, USA, Australia, India, and much of Europe and Asia.
Riders climb a ladder of distances – 200, 300, 400, 600 and 1000 km – each one a badge of endurance and each a stepping stone toward the ultimate goal.
Paris–Brest–Paris (PBP), the pinnacle.
Paris–Brest–Paris is the oldest and most revered long-distance cycling event in the world. First held in 1891, it is a 1,200 km ride from Paris to the Atlantic coast at Brest and back, which must be completed within 90 hours, riding through day and night, on little sleep, powered by determination alone.
Held only once every four years (the next edition in 2027), PBP is to randonneurs what the Olympics are to athletes. And it cannot simply be entered; a rider must first qualify by completing a full series of 200, 300, 400 and 600 km brevets in the same year, earning the proud title of "Super Randonneur".
This is exactly why Audax Pakistan exists. Our aims are simple and open to all:
To organise certified, purposeful long-distance rides on Pakistani roads, open to every cyclist and every club.
To build a culture of endurance, discipline, and self-reliance in our cycling community.
And above all, to prepare and qualify Pakistani riders to one day stand at the start line of Paris–Brest–Paris and carry our flag across that historic finish.
Whether you ride with a club or ride alone, whether you are a seasoned randonneur or dreaming of your very first 200 km, you are welcome. Audax belongs to all of us.
The wheels are about to roll. I invite every cyclist in Pakistan to be part of this journey.
Ride far. Ride strong. Ride audaciously.
