A good shot is not always about power.

Sometimes it is about contact.

When the ball hits the sweet spot of the bat, energy transfers more efficiently. The shot feels cleaner, the ball travels better, and the batsman has more control.

But when the ball hits the toe or edge of the bat, power gets lost and the shot becomes harder to control.

That is why batsmen need to focus on more than just swinging hard.

Keep your head steady.
Watch the ball closely.
Keep the bat path controlled.
Meet the ball in the right place.
Let the body transfer power into the shot.

Sweet spot contact is trained, not random.

The more you improve your timing and precision, the cleaner your hitting becomes.

A heavy lift can fail before the weight even moves.

Sometimes the problem is not only strength.

Sometimes the body is not braced properly.

When the core is soft, the upper back is loose, the grip is weak, or the hips are not active, force starts leaking from the body.

That makes the lift feel heavier and less stable.

A good brace helps your body stay connected from top to bottom.

Before you lift:

Take a breath in.
Brace the core all around.
Set your shoulders and upper back.
Squeeze the bar.
Stay tight before you move.

This helps improve control, stability, and force transfer during squats, deadlifts, presses, and other heavy lifts.

The goal is not just to lift more weight.

The goal is to control the weight better.

Brace the body. Control the force.

A lot of athletes start fixing problems without first understanding what is actually causing them.

They feel pain, weakness, poor balance, or poor performance — and immediately start adding random exercises.

But before correcting movement, you need to assess it.

A movement assessment helps identify things like mobility restrictions, poor stability, posture issues, weak joint control, left-right differences, and technical errors.

This helps athletes and coaches make better training decisions.

Because the right solution depends on the real cause.

Assessment is not about criticising how someone moves.

It is about finding what needs attention so training becomes more focused and useful.

When athletes understand their movement, they can correct smarter and improve faster.

Assess first.
Correct smarter.
Perform better.

A lot of athletes train shoulders, but forget the upper back.

The shoulder does not work alone.

It needs the shoulder blade and upper-back muscles to give it a stable base.

When the upper back is weak or poorly controlled, posture can suffer, shoulder movement can feel unstable, and overhead movements may become harder to control.

This matters for athletes who throw, bowl, lift, press, swim, or play any sport where the arms move fast or overhead.

Simple exercises like prone Y raises, bent-over rows, scapular wall slides, and band pull-aparts can help build better control around the shoulder blades.

The goal is not just bigger shoulders.

The goal is shoulders that move well, stay stable, and handle sport demands with more confidence.

Stronger upper back.
Stable shoulders.
Better performance.

Your glutes do more than most athletes realize.

They help you sprint, jump, land, squat, change direction, and keep your knees and hips more stable during movement.

When the glutes are not doing their job properly, the body may start compensating.

The knees may collapse inward.
The lower back may take extra stress.
The hips may feel weak or unstable.
Movement may feel less controlled.

That is why glute activation can be useful before training.

Exercises like glute bridges and banded clamshells help athletes feel the hips working and prepare the body for better movement.

But the goal is not to do hundreds of reps.

The goal is control.

Move slowly.
Squeeze at the right time.
Keep the knees aligned.
Do not overarch the lower back.
Feel the hips doing the work.

Activation is not the full workout.

It is preparation for better training.

Medicine ball rotational throws are not just a gym exercise.

They teach athletes how to transfer power through the whole body.

This matters in cricket, throwing sports, combat sports, and any sport where rotation creates speed and force.

A common mistake is trying to throw only with the arms.

But real rotational power starts lower.

Your feet connect to the ground.
Your hips create rotation.
Your core transfers the force.
Your shoulders and arms finish the movement.

When the sequence is right, the throw becomes faster and more powerful without forcing it.

When the sequence is poor, energy leaks and the body works harder than it needs to.

Train the body to move as one system.

Plyometric training is more than just jumping up and down.

It is about teaching the body to act like a spring.

You land, absorb force, and then use that energy to explode again.

That quick transition is what helps athletes become more powerful, reactive, and athletic.

But the way you land matters.

If the landing is uncontrolled, noisy, or unstable, the exercise loses quality and may place extra stress on the body.

A good plyometric movement should be:

Controlled.
Spring-like.
Quick off the ground.
Stable through the hips, knees, and trunk.

The goal is not to do as many jumps as possible.

The goal is to perform each jump with quality.

For athletes, this can help with sprinting, cutting, jumping, and fast reactions in sport.

Train power with purpose.

HIIT can be a powerful tool for athletic conditioning when it is done properly.

But the goal is not just to feel destroyed after every session.

A good HIIT session should help athletes produce strong, repeated efforts while still keeping movement quality high.

That means sprinting with control, recovering enough, and making every repetition purposeful.

Short intervals like sprinting, walking, and repeating can help train speed, power, conditioning, and fatigue control.

But if the technique breaks down too early, the session becomes less about performance and more about just surviving.

Train with intensity.

But keep the quality.

Because smart intervals are better than random exhaustion.

Balance training is more important than most athletes think.

It is not circus work.
It is about teaching your body to understand position, control joints, and react quickly during movement.

When you land, stop, cut, jump, or reach for a ball, your body has to make small adjustments instantly.

Your ankles need to stay active.
Your hips need to control the pelvis and knee.
Your trunk needs to stay stable.
Your body needs to react without losing balance.

That is why proprioception matters.

It helps athletes move with better control, reduce unnecessary stress, and perform better in real sport situations.

The goal is not just to stand still.

The goal is to build control that helps you move better when the game gets fast.

A lot of batsmen try to hit harder by using more arms and wrists.

But real bat speed comes from timing the whole movement properly.

Your hips start the rotation.
Your trunk transfers the energy.
Your shoulders and arms guide the bat.
Your wrists finish the shot.

The wrist snap is powerful when it happens late and at the right time.

If the wrists release too early, energy can be lost before contact. But when the wrist action is controlled and well-timed, the bat can accelerate faster near impact.

That is why batting power is not only about strength.
It is about sequence, timing, and control.

So next time you practise, do not only think:
“How hard can I hit?”
Think:
“Am I releasing the bat at the right moment?”

Late wrist snap can help create better bat speed and cleaner contact.
