What I do now is just a fraction of what I did in Denmark.
The intensity of my coaching then and now is completely different.
The schedule changed.
The players changed.
The level changed.
But the passion didn't.
Whether coaching elite athletes or complete beginners, the goal has always been the same, to help people grow, on and off the court.
Every season has its purpose, and I'm grateful for each one.
Because no stage is too small when you're serving with all your heart ππΈ

"Kapag lumago, hindi na hihinto." (Once it grows, it cannot be stopped.) - written by Nike for Filipino tennis star Alex Eala during her Wimbledon campaignπ΅ππΎ
This really resonated with us.
It reminds us how important the formative years are in an athlete's journey. The skills they learn matter, but even more important are the habits they build, the values they embrace, the discipline they develop, and the character they carry long after the medals and tournaments.
At Torch, we don't know what the future holds for every athlete. We can't promise scholarships, championships, or professional careers. But we can be intentional with what we plant today. We can create an environment where growth happens on and off the court.
Our hope is that the seeds we plant now will continue to grow for years to come, shaping not just better athletes, but better people.
Because when true growth takes root...

One of the things I'm most grateful for during my time coaching in Denmark was being introduced to the Miniton program. Seeing it firsthand changed the way I viewed junior development, not just in teaching badminton skills, but in creating an environment where young players could enjoy learning, build confidence, and develop over the years.
While we can't implement every aspect of Miniton because of the differences between the π΅π Philippine and π©π° Danish culture, many of its principles have helped build strong foundations for young players and supported their long-term development.
Now, I'm excited to bring those lessons home and adapt them for Torch Badminton Academy, developing not just better badminton skills, but a lifelong love for the game :)
