JOINT STATEMENT ON THE SENATE MINORITY WALKOUT

We strongly condemn what appears to be an attempt to rush a major change in the Senate Rules, especially when several members of the minority still wanted to speak and raise serious questions on the floor.

Bakit kailangang madaliin? Bakit kailangang pigilan ang mga gustong magsalita? Bakit kailangang i-divide ang house kung marami pang senador ang nagtatanong tungkol sa proseso?

Minamadali ba ang rule change na ito dahil gusto nilang maka boto si Senator Bato? At ngayong may mga ulat na may mga majority senators na maaaring arestuhin?

We walked out because what happened on the floor looked less like orderly deliberation. The proposed rule change affects how senators may attend sessions, participate in proceedings and exercise their mandate through remote means, and such a measure should be opened to healthy public debate instead of being rushed by the tyranny of the majority.

We have always welcomed healthy discussions on the floor, but this should mean allowing all members to be heard, not forcing the chamber to move at the speed preferred by the majority.

At the time the motion was taken up, there was no duly constituted Committee on Rules and there was not even an elected Majority Leader who could properly guide a rules amendment through the regular process.

How could there have been any action or discussion before the Committee on Rules when no Committee on Rules has been organized to date?

With due respect, the answer that no Senate rule had been violated does not settle the matter, because the rules cannot be treated as a matter of convenience when the very process for amending them is under serious question.

The timing raises a question that the public deserves to hear debated openly. Kaya pinili naming tumayo at iwan ang majority sa plenary. Kaya kami nagdesisyon to question the quorum and call for adjournment.

If the proposal is truly defensible, then let it pass through the proper route.

We owe it to the people who voted for us to do our mandate. This is why we want more time to discuss this further.

​What happened last May 11-13, 2026, wasn't just a breakdown of order - it was a masterclass in deception. It is absolutely infuriating to witness the very institution meant to protect our laws turned into a theatrical stage designed to manipulate the Filipino people.
​While the cameras were deliberately pointed at a manufactured commotion, a fugitive senator was quietly allowed to escape the vicinity. Let that sink in. A group of individuals orchestrated a highly volatile drama, deceiving the public just to save the necks of their colleague and a top official.
​At what cost? They traded our nation's integrity, abandoned all sense of shame, and deliberately put the safety of the hardworking media and innocent bystanders on the line just to create a smokescreen. When the very people sworn to uphold justice use chaos to cover up complicity, we cross a dangerous line. We cannot accept a reality where those in power protect their own while treating the rest of us as collateral damage in their political games.

The Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta will be held from February 13 to 15, 2026. This falls on a weekend, so the whole family can spend a day (or even two or three!) taking part in the festivities.

The Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is an event that is highly anticipated by hot air balloon and aircraft enthusiasts, as it is the only airshow held in the Philippines. The airshow, dubbed “A weekend of everything that flies,” features flying exhibitions showcasing several different kinds of hot air balloons. Participants were also treated to shows with helicopters, skydivers, paragliders, drones, radio-controlled aircraft, and kites.

The festival also features on-ground activities and attractions like aviation career seminars, food booths, a fly market, and concerts, making sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The venue for the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival 2026 is New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac. This new venue is a sports hub that is home to an aquatics center, various open grounds, and an athletics stadium that can seat up to 20,000 people.
