What a productive two weeks of bike fitting, learning and cycling š
It was an absolute pleasure to learn from Tony Corke and a privilege to share the experience with fellow bike fitters from different parts of the world. Being surrounded by people who are equally passionate about helping cyclists ride better made the whole experience even more fun and engaging.
A huge thank you to the Pronto Bikes family for making us feel right at home. Great bikes, great coffee, and even better people.
And to Tonyāthank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Every day was packed with discussions that went deep into the details of bike fitting, and no question ever went unanswered. One of the highlights was heading out for rides to put our work to the test in the real world - both on the road and off road. Thereās no better way to understand a bike fit than by actually riding it.
Iām incredibly grateful for the opportunity, the lessons learned, and the friendships made along the way. Looking forward to getting back home, working on more bikes, and continuing to learn with every fit.

Positioning the Rider
I feel like this is the part of the bike fit Iāve always found the most difficult ā finding the optimal weight distribution.
Finding that sweet spot is always the goal, but itās not the easiest thing to do, especially when youāre working with integrated handlebars and limited adjustment options. š
In the session, we dove deeper to find the optimal position based on a number of factors was probably the biggest eye-opener of the course for me. Itās also the thing Iām most excited to bring back home and work on.
Using the fit jig opens up so much more adjustability and lets you properly explore what positions are actually available before translating them onto the riderās bike. Being able to experience the process from both sidesāas fitters and as the ridersāmade the learning even more valuable.
Awesome day learning from master bike fitter Tony and working alongside fellow bike fitters from around the world, Etienne Bonello and Dave of HYPT BIKE PERFORMANCE Plenty of great discussions, different perspectives, and lots of learning.

Finally got a new bike fit!
Itās been over two years since Iāve had a proper fit on my own bike - which, to be fair, hasnāt exactly stayed the same. The saddle has moved around, the stem has changed, and Iāve mostly just been relying on the numbers from my old fit with some minor tweaks here and there.
The problem is that bike geometries changed among bikes, contact points change, and what worked before isnāt always the best setup now.
So for everyone whoās asked, āWho fits the bike fitter?ā ā¦the answer is usually another bike fitter. š
I was lucky enough to be the subject for a road bike fit during class, and it was interesting to see how many little details Iād missed trying to fit myself. The reality is that itās pretty hard to do your own fitāyou canāt see yourself on the bike, and itās easy to overlook the small things.
Doing the fit on the Bioracer jig also made the process much easier. Being able to make instant adjustments and compare different positions meant no stone was left unturned.
A few things stood out:
* My saddle was a few millimetres too high.
* Reach was actually in a good place.
* I could probably benefit from running shorter cranks.
The shorter cranks felt surprisingly good, and itās definitely something I want to experiment with further.
Iāve managed to get out for two rides since the fit, and the bike just feels easier to pedal. Sometimes itās only a few millimetres that make all the difference.
Big thanks to Stefan and Tony for getting me dialled in on the road bike. šš»

Numbers Donāt Lie
Weāve seen plenty of cases where riders buy the same frame size across different brands and end up with a bike thatās either too big or too small.
Frame sizing today isnāt standardized. A size 52 from one manufacturer can fit very differently from a size 52 from another. In fact, if you look closely, thereās often nothing on the frame that actually measures 52 cm anymore. š¤·
The same goes for letter sizingāan XS from one brand could easily fit like a Small from another.
Thatās why itās always worth looking beyond the size sticker and consulting the geometry charts provided by the manufacturer. The numbers tell a much more accurate story than the label on the frame.
A little research before buying can save a lot of money, frustration, and fit adjustments later on.

World Bicycle Day š²
The best part of bike fitting is helping people enjoy their bikes more. Whether itās comfort, performance, or confidence on the bike, itās rewarding to play a small part in someoneās cycling journey.
A love for cycling and the community is what got us started in the first place. š«”
Happy World Bicycle Day, and thank you to everyone who has trusted me along the way. šš“āāļø

Itās been a while since weāve seen Rex and his Ostro VAM - some notable changes since the last fit was the transition from Shimano to a SRAM drivetrain. This meant the hoods are longer and have a different feel.
Another notable change in the contact points was the saddle - a check up was long overdue. We went back to basics in dialing in the fit.
Fortunately, we were also able to see up close the models from Nimbl - from the Ultimate, the Glide and the lace-up models.
As a bike fitter, I am glad to see the wider platform available to work with cleat position and a wide last to accommodate cyclists with wide feet.
It was also great to catch up š«”
