As we look back on the year that was, we honor the powerful voices, tireless action, and shared purpose that drove our advocacy forward.

Through our collective effort, advocacy became action, translating into into the following tangible, community-led initiatives:

- 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 by PCKDF Club Teams

- Celebration of 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐍 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲’𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐚 and the theme “𝐿𝑎𝑘𝑒𝑠: 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑖𝑓𝑒𝑏𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑡” that featured dragon boat exhibition match, symposium on lake conservation and a lake-based livelihood training

- Ibalong Dragon Boat Festival and 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐩𝐢 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐩 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲

- 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐲 activities by Laguna Lakeside Boat Club that included sports clinics and clean up drive

- 𝐇𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 Oquendo Poblacion Calbayog City, Samar 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 by Calbayog Canoe Kayak

In the Philippines, too, they added to the 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships legacy with a coaching seminar. Aiming to increase coaching standards across the nation, a research-driven curriculum was taught by experts from various fields at multiple locations.

Progress happens when we move together, and this year proved the power of collective action.

“As the city of Puerto Princesa hosted the 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships, there was a massive focus on the environment.

With support from the city and Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron, around 250 athletes were part of the initiative in 2024. As the word spread, more than 1200 of them joined, positioning paddle sport as an ambassador of climate action in the country.”

The NEW PUERTO PRINCESA SPORTS GYM is now open! This gym will be the main indoor training center of paddle sports athletes!

A year later and it’s celebration! We’ve got:

✔️ ICF disciplines: Dragon Boat, Canoe, Kayak, Stand Up Paddling (SUP), with SUP making its debut at the Philippine National Games.

✔️ Around 800 paddlers from 15 teams across the Philippines, including one each from Singapore and Malaysia at the 4th Puerto Princesa International Dragon Boat Festival

✔️ Continued “Paddle Together for Climate Action” with various coastal cleanups and tree planting activities nationwide

The Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragonboat Federation - PCKDF delivered a series of events to mark the first Moving Forward Paddling Week 🤩

The initiative was launched alongside the 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships, aiming to promote the island nation as a premier paddling destination and encourage paddling as a sport and leisure activity 🛶

Celebrating World Lake Day with Purpose

On August 27, the City of Taguig marked the UN’s new global observance of World Lake Day with Regatta sa Lawa , a vibrant dragon boat race at Laguna Lake that honored tradition, community, and environmental action. 🚣‍♀️💚

With the support of Mayor Lani Cayetano and the inspiring presence of Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragonboat Federation - PCKDF, the event brought the advocacy to life, encouraging locals to engage in dragon boat paddling and protect our precious lake ecosystems. 🌱

“We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to share their experiences and opinions on our beautiful sport and how we can improve,” ICF President Thomas Konietzko said.
