Ok ang pick and roll pero anong gagawin nung isang opensa maghihintay ng bola so nakatayo pa din. If we want these young kids/ teenagers there should be a semblance of team play. Let's do away with purely 1 on 1 plays. Read and react offense. On the defensive end they are all standing up ball pressure is an integral part of the defense . Knowing where or which side of the ball is enhances between ball side defense and weak side help and recovery to your man. Imho we need to change the way we play or else it could be habit forming.

If we rely too much on offense and play lousy defense then we won't be able to achieve a higher standards of play or even compete internationally. 😊"

There will be a total of fifty (50) ball possessions up for grabs under the FIBA regulation of ten (10) minutes per game with a 12-seconds shot clock. And should a game ends in a tie, shot clock is turned off and a race to scoring two points first, serve as a tie breaker ensues. Then a winner is declared.

The formula that matters is six hundred (600) seconds or ten (10) minutes divided by twelve (12) seconds for the shot time limit is equal to fifty (50) possible possessions to score.

In the larger scheme of things, shot clock management in this format of play is kept at a minimum, because 3 x 3 hoops is all about shooting, shooting, and shooting. It's all about setting up the best available high percentage shot. No grind it out low block action, excessive dribbling, and dragging decision making that runs out the shot clock.

So if you are a coach who maximise every offensive thrust with methodical crisp and pinpoint passing, coupled with efficient shotmaking while placing a premium on speed, quickness, and explosiveness. Then to a point, the saying "your best Offense is your best Defense." applies.

However, at the grassroots youth level, in as much as accurate shooting is a great habit to have, defensive skills like staying in front of your man, extending help defense and recovering, boxing and closing out, proper rebounding, and contesting shots w/o fouling are equally important habits to develop as well.

Premise stated, philosophy shared, now we can run our practices and player skill development program with sustaining an intense defensive stance for 12 seconds at every possession, while trying to score in under four seconds or less.

Immediately that's a 3 is to 1 ratio. And potentially, scoring 21 points before the end of regulation consistently is likely to happen. Numbers don't lie.
