Yoga has continued to become an amazing avenue for me to learn to communicate with my body and connect with my baby.
During this last stretch, my practices have been more about restorative poses, breathing techniques and just really enjoying the movement within.
As there's much attention drawn to the importance of the strength of pelvic floor muscles (PFM) during pregnancy and labor, it is equally important to learn to RELAX these muscles.
A smart and healthy muscle knows when to engage and when to relax and THIS takes a lot of practice. With constant practice of proper breathwork (plus imagery for me) and some essential relaxation arsenals, learning to connect your breath to your PFM is possible and highly beneficial, not just for birth prep but even for daily grind.
Our bodies, no matter what season it is in, is absolutely amazing. So, let's continue to connect, communicate, appreciate and learn about our intricately designed and intentional bodies ♡

So, I've decided to take a breather from teaching and focus on things I can actually control, which is myself as I grow and nurture this tiny human within, and my breath.
With so many things going on in and around us, it's so easy to become overwhelmed with the things we have no control over and even more challenging to be with child during this current paradigm shift.
The unlearning and/or relearning new ways and shifting perspective as we move forward is essential to our current state of well-being.
As an expectant mom, just learning the importance of, being aware, and connecting with my breath either in stillness or in motion or whatever state I may be in has been an essential and foundational tool in my daily flow (physically, biologically, energetically and emotionally).
For someone who thrives in a constantly moving, doing, creating and growing environment, I've challenged myself in this third trimester (currently 31 weeks) to slow down, draw back and settle in.
This is also in sync with my energy levels, where in the second trimester, I got a boost of energy that fueled me and allowed me to thrive in multiple projects and activities. Now, during my third trimester, I've become more mindful (and more accepting) of what I can and cannot do and surrender to the ability of my body and its needs, which is to relax and prepare for the fourth trimester.
So to all trying to find their talná, whatever season or state you may be in, remember to utilize the essence of BREATH, the gift you've had since Day 1 that keeps on giving. It may not look like much, but by simply being aware and taking time to connect with your breath, whenever and where ever, has an instantaneous talná impact that is pure and essential.
Happy Breathing everyone!

Celebrating motherhood in all its forms.
For the love, time, nourishment we share with others is a form of mothering. I believe it knows no gender, as everyone who MOTHERS others is a Mother.
Happy Mother's Day to all and may you find your talná as you celebrate you today! ♡

How's your breathing lately?
Have you taken sometime out today to just notice your breath and acknowledge it as it courses through your body?
Remember that you can always pause and check-in.

Take time to connect with the Earth today, ground down and honor your body and the solid foundation beneath you.
Move, root down and be nourished by the gifts of the Earth.
Celebrate and cultivate its beauty and abundance as this life-giving HOME that we currently inhabit is merely borrowed from our children.
Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Yesterday's Prenatal Flow Session with Heart Carambas-Rondal and Ish Tiu Advincula (Online), focused on the dynamics of breath and relearning deep belly breathing and connecting this breath with pelvic floor muscles. Incorporating this type of breath with slow and intentional movements. Ending the session with a Guided Meditation honoring the sacred connection between mom's heart and baby and using the breath as portal between the two.
Learning how to move in sync with your diaphragm and the movement of the pelvic floor muscles in different positions and knowing when to strengthen and relax your pelvic floor muscles is essential during pregnancy and in preparation for birth.
