Maiquez Powers San Juan to Ninth Straight Win, Routs Marikina

SAN JUAN — Dexter Maiquez delivered an efficient performance off the bench as the San Juan Knights continued their dominant run in the 2026 MPBL season, overwhelming the Marikina Bigz Burger, 106-78, on Thursday night.

Maiquez earned Best Player of the Game honors after scoring 16 points on an impressive 8-of-11 shooting while adding seven rebounds in just under 15 minutes of action. His steady production helped San Juan improve to 11-1 and extend its winning streak to nine consecutive games.

The Knights imposed their will from the opening quarter, racing to a 23-15 advantage before widening the gap to 51-33 at halftime. San Juan's relentless offense continued in the third period, stretching the lead to 85-57 entering the final frame.

Maiquez sparked the fourth-quarter assault with an early jumper and remained active on the glass as the Knights maintained complete control. San Juan eventually pushed its lead beyond 30 points, allowing its deep bench to finish off the one-sided contest.

The Knights showcased their depth with six players scoring in double figures. Reyland Torres added 12 points, while Gerry Abadiano, Patrick Sleat, and Kenneth Neil Villapando chipped in 11 markers each. Harold Alarcon and Orlan Wamar contributed 10 points apiece.

San Juan's balanced attack was complemented by strong ball movement, recording 32 assists on 43 made field goals. Wamar orchestrated the offense with a game-high 11 assists, while the Knights shot an efficient 53.1 percent from the field.

Marikina, which dropped to 5-10, struggled to keep pace after halftime. Jeepy Faundo and Deo Timajo led the Bigz Burger with 12 points each, while Jomel Landayan added seven markers.

The Knights dominated the rebounding battle, 54-40, and capitalized on their superior ex*****on on both ends to secure another convincing victory as they remain among the league's top contenders.
