Yang Chengfu, the great tai chi teacher, stressed that no amount of good instruction can substitute for showing up on the mat every day. Without daily personal training, you remain inexpert, lacking the skill that only comes from consistent practice.
Cheng Man-ch'ing (a master student of Yang Chengfu) compared skill-building to stacking paper one sheet at a time. Each day's practice seems negligible, but over years it becomes an enormous accumulation.
Master Wang Hai-Jun likened tai chi to pedaling a bicycle uphill: stop, and you roll backward. He pointed to the old saying that a single missed day sets you back ten.
And, Confucius: "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."

Complex forms ask for more time beyond the usual schedule. That's why, on top of our regular Thursday sessions here in Dasmariñas, we set aside last Sunday for a special deep-dive into our 32-form and 42-form sword routines. More complicated forms like these deserve the extra time. Thank you, as always, for your patience and dedication in guiding us, Sifu Ton Delgado!"

Inviting serious tai chi students to our class tomorrow, 2 Aug, here in Dasmariñas, 730am. PM for details. See you!
Attached is a video clip from this morning's practice. And here are some words to sit with today :) Enjoy.
"The mind has to be relaxed in order to be joyful and make progress to the other levels. To complete the moves of the form with a continuous flow is the hardest to achieve, even at the senior level."
- Wu Jianquan (son of tai chi master Wu Quanyou, quoted in "T'ai Chi: The International Magazine of T'ai Chi Ch'uan", Vol. 21, No. 3, June 1997)
"Relax the waist. All movements depend on the waist. A relaxed waist makes the two feet able to form a strong base."
- Yang Chengfu (foundational Yang-style tai chi principles, from his written teachings on form)
"Relaxation is at the heart of the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. It's not learning a myriad of techniques but releasing the blocks in the body... developing rooting and opening up to the flow of the Qi."
- Carol Yamasaki (Tao Motion)
"Wu wei is about aligning ourselves with the natural flow of life, letting go of control, and allowing things to unfold organically."
- Sol Luckman (from "Get Out of Here Alive: Inner Alchemy & Immortality")

身剑合一
Shēn jiàn hé yī
"Body and sword become one."
In advanced tai chi sword practice, the separation between sword and practitioner starts to dissolve. The sword stops being something you carry and becomes something you extend. The sword's tip moves because your waist turns, your breath settles, and your intention leads. There's just one continuous motion, flowing from center to blade. This is why tai chi sword is practiced slowly at first; not for show, but so the body has time to become familiar with the weapon.
When mind, breath, and action move as one, whether it's in sword practice or in other aspects of our life, everything we do becomes more steady, clear, and whole. 🗡️☯️
