1st & 2nd Brigade Backyard Encampment | Day 2 in Review

The USJ-R BSP Unit continued its 1st and 2nd Brigade Backyard Encampment on August 15, 2026, with a series of activities focused on endurance, discipline, and leadership.

The second day began with a hike from the USJ-R Basak Campus to San Carlos Heights and back, challenging the scouts’ physical endurance and teamwork.

Following the hike, the participating outfits attended a Holy Mass at the campus chapel before proceeding to the USJ-R Basak Campus Open Gym (CC4) for an awarding ceremony recognizing their performances throughout the encampment.

More than physical challenges, the day’s activities provided the scouts with opportunities to develop strength, perseverance, discipline, and leadership, values central to the scouting experience.

As the encampment came to a close, the scouts were reminded that every step, challenge, and accomplishment throughout the encampment was part of a greater journey toward growth and leadership.

ICYMI || USJ-R BSP Unit Concludes 1st and 2nd Brigade Backyard Encampment with Awarding Ceremony

The USJ-R Boy Scout Unit held its awarding ceremony for the 1st and 2nd Brigade Backyard Encampment on August 15 at the USJ-R Basak Campus Open Gym (CC4).

The ceremony recognized the outfits that emerged as top performers across the various activities and competitions throughout the encampment. Outfit 092 emerged as the Overall Champion of the Backyard Encampment, while Outfits 007 and 075 placed first and second runner-up, respectively.

EARLIER TODAY || The 1st & 2nd Brigade Outfits Proceed With Their Hiking Activity & Holy Mass

This August 15, 2026, the 1st Brigade & 2nd Brigade began their Hiking Activity from the USJ-R Basak Campus, to San Carlos Heights. This is then followed by a Holy Mass at the Saint Ezekiel Moreno Building, Chapel.

1st & 2nd Brigade Backyard Encampment | Day 1 in Review

Yesterday, at August 14, 2026, the 1st and 2nd Brigade Outfits began their Backyard Encampment. The day opened at the USJ-R Basak Campus Amphitheatre, where each outfit participated in a flag-raising ceremony.
Following the flag ceremony, the scouts proceeded to the Open Gym (CC4) for their Investiture Ceremony to be followed by their Tuklas Ng Talento. By midday, both the 1st and 2nd Brigades held their respective Rally Games, featuring an Amazing Race and Olimpikan at their designated venues.
As evening fell, the Grand Campfire Ceremony commenced at the Soccer Field, bringing the day's activities together through an evening of scouting fellowship and celebration. This was followed by an Exposition held at the same venue.
Through these activities, the scouts not only strengthened their practical skills and knowledge but also developed character, camaraderie, and leadership, values at the heart of the scouting experience.

The USJ-R Boy Scouts of the Philippines Unit proudly congratulates Dr. Ionell Jay R. Terogo, LPT, former HS and Greenbar Leader Batch 2007, on earning his Ph.D. in Education Studies, specializing in Higher Education and Student Affairs, from The Ohio State University as a Fulbright Philippines Scholar.

From his years as a Josenian Scout to this remarkable academic milestone, Sir Ionell continues to show how far dedication, service, and the values formed through Scouting can take us.
