📚 "Do I need an SO1, SO2, SO3, or SO4?"
If you've ever asked this — you're not alone. DOLE's Safety Officer classifications confuse even seasoned professionals. Here's a quick breakdown:
🟢 SO1 (Safety Officer 1) — 8-Hour Mandatory OSH Orientation graduate. The floor for all workers. Required for everyone.
🔵 SO2 (Safety Officer 2) — 40-Hour BOSH graduate. Required when your workplace has 10–50 workers in low-risk industries, or as a baseline for many regulated sectors. This is where most Safety Officer careers actually start.
🟡 SO3 (Safety Officer 3) — BOSH + 48-hour advanced training, plus 2 years of OSH experience. Required for medium-to-high-risk workplaces with 50–250 workers.
🔴 SO4 (Safety Officer 4) — Most advanced. Required for high-risk workplaces with 250+ workers or specialized industries. Requires SO3 + further training + experience.
📌 The SO2 sweet spot: Most small-to-medium Philippine companies need at least one SO2 on staff. Many of them don't realize it — until DOLE asks.
💼 Why SO2 certification matters for your career:
- Required for designation as your workplace's Safety Officer in many DOLE-regulated settings
- Builds the foundation for SO3 progression
- DOLE-compliant — recognized nationwide
- A practical add to any HR, operations, or engineering role
📅 Our next BOSH SO2 training: June 29 – July 3, 2026 in Cebu. Face-to-face. DOLE-accredited (STO No. 1030-060623-0168). Limited seats.
💬 Message us to reserve a slot or ask which SO level fits your role.

Our thoughts are with the individuals, families, and communities affected by today’s magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao. We are hoping for everyone’s safety and for the protection of those in impacted areas.
During times like these, awareness and preparedness remain essential. Understanding earthquake risks and emergency response measures helps strengthen safety in our homes, communities, and workplaces.
Let this serve as a reminder to review emergency plans, evacuation procedures, and preparedness measures.
Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.

Which one does your workplace have — a safety culture or just safety compliance? 🤔
Compliance = following the rules because you have to.
Culture = making safety a habit because you want to.
One protects your company from penalties. The other protects your people — every single day. The good news? You don't have to choose. 💪
With the right OSH training and guidance, you can have both. Because when safety is only about passing inspections, it stops the moment no one is watching. But when it becomes part of your culture, your people carry it with them — on the floor, in the field, and everywhere in between.
Let us help you not just be compliant — but build a culture of Safety that lasts. 🦺

Construction is the most dangerous industry in the Philippines — and it doesn't have to be. 🏗️
The 8-Hour Mandatory OSH Orientation under DOLE D.O. 198-18 isn't paperwork. It's the floor. It's the absolute minimum every construction worker is entitled to before they step onto a site.
It covers:
🔴 Worker rights & responsibilities under Philippine law
🔴 Common construction hazards
🔴 PPE — what to use, when, and why it matters
🔴 Emergency procedures & incident reporting
This past week, SafeTech delivered the 8-Hour Mandatory OSH Orientation to a Cebu-based construction firm's workers. Eight hours. Every worker. Every shift covered.
It's a small thing. And it's the most important thing.
Train your people. The law says you must. Common sense says you should. The cost of skipping it is something no contract or deadline justifies.
SafeTech is a DOLE-accredited Safety Training Organization and Consultancy Firm (STO No. 1030-060623-0168). We can conduct the 8-Hour Mandatory OSH Orientation in Cebu, across Visayas, and nationwide upon request.
Message us. Schedule it. Don't wait.

🔍 Safety Tip Friday: Building Your Workplace Safety Audit Checklist
Most workplace accidents don't happen without warning — they happen because the warning signs were never checked. That's exactly what a safety audit is for.
📋A good safety audit helps you:
✔ Spot hazards before they cause harm
✔ Ensure your OSH records are complete and updated
✔ Verify that equipment and emergency tools are in working condition
✔ Confirm your team knows what to do when something goes wrong
✔ Document findings and act on them — not just file them away
How often? At least once a year — but quarterly is best practice, especially for medium to high-risk workplaces.
Who should conduct it? Your designated Safety Officer, with management present and workers involved.
Pro tip: An audit is only as good as the corrective actions that follow. Finding the gap is step one — closing it is what keeps people safe. 💡
Not sure where to start? SafeTech can help you build and implement a safety audit system that works for your industry and company size.

📅 One year ago today, the rules of workplace safety in the Philippines changed.
On May 16, 2025, DOLE Department Order No. 252-25 took effect — replacing the long-standing DO 198-18 as the new Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 11058.
If your OSH program hasn't been updated since, you may already be falling behind. Here's what's new:
✅ Broader coverage — WFH setups, home-based work, GOCCs, ecozones, and contractors are now explicitly included
✅ New hazards recognized — psychosocial risks (stress, bullying, harassment), ergonomics for remote work, AI & automation, climate impact
✅ Updated Safety Officer competencies — specialized training now required for high-risk industries
✅ Shift coverage rules — high-risk workplaces must have an SO present every shift
✅ Tougher penalties — up to ₱100,000/day for willful non-compliance
✅ UHC integration — occupational health now connected to Universal Health Care
One year in, the question isn't "have you heard about DO 252-25?" — it's "is your workplace already compliant?"
If you're not sure, that's exactly what we're here for.
💼Let's review your OSH program together.
