In 2014 Rod Bannister came up with the idea to create a brand that would represent everyone who had lived, passed though, had & is affiliated to Wanganui in some way, shape or form. The idea was to create a modern independent brand for the City that would be a label of the people, giving us a sense of “Pride” and belonging. It was created to bring the people together and to show outside communitie
s how awesome the Wanganui Region is with world-class art facilities, heritage, wonderful schools, a creative and forward thinking business community, outstanding sporting facilities and a lifestyle that is second to none. Having the idea of the brand was one part of the equation, having it come to life was another; In order to do this Sam Pedley a student of the School of Graphic Design UCOL in Wanganui at the time was brought on board to bring the brand to life. This resulted in “Nui Pride”.
“Nui Pride” was launched with the vision of seeing our City folk wearing it on t-shirts, hoodies, caps & prominently placed on bumper stickers of cars all around the world; from Victoria Avenue to London. Rod wanted to create an independent brand for the City that was not worn one or two times then thrown out, he wanted a quality and sustainable product that lasted the period of time, was ever evolving and moved with the times. As we progress we will supply everything from work wear to wine glasses, sporting apparel to apparel for all ages and much more. The “Nui Pride” brand says everything about the City and surrounding Regions we choose to live in aiming to bring us global recognition from people all over the world.
