Every Wednesday for the past 5 weeks, our TC students have travelled to Walter Nash Stadium to compete in the DSP Basketball competition.

Yesterday we were able to watch their last game and it was so awesome to see their skills, positive energy and team work on display. To top it off, they finished the season with a WIN!

We'd like to thank Julia and Ima for your care and support of the students each week, and to our student referee Dash, for stepping up and learning a new skill.

And thank you to CSW for creating opportunities for all students to engage in sport, in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Last week we hosted the annual Christine Hayman netball exchange with Paraparaumu College. Christine was a beloved teacher and netball coach at both colleges, and started this netball tradition 32 years ago.

Sadly, Chris passed away many years ago, but her memory is kept alive with this annual fixture bringing everyone together.

TC have been the holders of the trophy for the past few years, but Paraparaumu put out strong performances in both games to take out the trophy for 2026!

Senior A: 31-28
Senior B: 25-23

Thank you to Paraparaumu for making the trip to Tawa this year, and congratulations on the wins. We look forward to next year

A big shout out to Vikki Havenith (Year 13) who was the recent recipient of the Junior Surf Contribution of the Year Award at the 2026 SLSNZ Capital Coast Awards of Excellence πŸ†

This is awarded to a volunteer for an outstanding contribution to Junior Surf in the past year. This recognises the commitment and dedication of volunteers who play a key role in bringing through the next generation of club members and surf lifeguards.

Vikki has been a member at the Titahi Bay Surf Lifesaving for many years, spreading herself across multiple roles including Lifeguard, IRB Rescue Drive and Vice Patrol Captain. More recently she has also taken a role as coach, mentor and organiser for Junior Surf (U14)

Congratulations on this recognition Vikki. Volunteers are a vital part of success at grassroots level sport and it's wonderful to see someone so young giving back to their sport in this way.

Some great action shots from the Beard Trophy game vs Aotea 1st XV on Wednesday night.

While we didn't get the win, it's always a highlight of the season for the boys to take the field in honour of the Beard whānau from Tawa, who started this tradition back in 1968.

We wish Aotea all the best for their next game again Mana 1st XV
