STATE OF ORIGIN — 2026 SERIES

All three games of this year’s SOO showdown between Hutt Valley and Western Bays will be hosted at Naenae Park, home of the Randwick Kingfishers.

Game 1 kicks off tomorrow with the U11 & U12 Grades — Sunday 9 August at 9am.

The U16 Boys Grand Final will also be played tomorrow at 10am on Field 1. Come down and support the next generation of athletes as they battle it out on the big stage.

The Kitchen will be open all day with delicious hot kai and treats to keep you fuelled. 😋

A quick reminder that this is children’s footy, not the NRL. Our referees, coaching staff, and officials are volunteers who give their time so our tamariki can play the game they love. Please model positive behaviour, show respect, and help create a safe, fun environment for everyone.

If you need to v**e or smoke, please head well away from the fields.
The sidelines are SMOKE‑FREE, VAPE‑FREE, ALCOHOL‑FREE and HOHA‑FREE.

Time: 9:30am-5pm
Venue: McEwan Park, Petone

*Updated times
10:00am-12:00pm: U11 Mixed - (Born 2016/2015)
12:30pm-2:30pm: U12 Mixed - (Born 2014-2015)
3:00pm-5:00pm: U13 Boys & Girls - (Born 2014-2013)

*Please arrive half an hour ahead of trial start times to complete the sign in & registration process at the admin tent.

-All tamariki must trial for the correct age grade.
-Tamariki will only be considered for 1 grade.
-All tamariki trialing must be registered with an associated WRL club for the 2026 season.

Your child will need the following:
-Sneakers & Boots
-Mouthguard (NO MOUTHGUARD NO PLAY)
-Water bottle
-Any protective wear required

This is a trial and the expectation is you turn up on time with the correct equipment ready to put your best foot forward!!!

What a year it's been for our Upper Hutt Tigers Juniors!

From our U6s, U8s, U9s, U10s, U11s and U12s, every player gave it their all and represented our club with pride. With the biggest junior muster in the competition, our Tigers have continued to grow, and it's exciting to see the talent coming through our club.

A massive thank you to all of our parents, whānau, coaches and managers. Your dedication, encouragement and countless volunteer hours are what make our junior programme so special.

A special thank you to our major junior sponsor, Gillies Group, for backing our future stars, and to Catchphrase for keeping our teams looking sharp in their playing kits.

The games may be over, but we're not finished just yet! We still have plenty to celebrate together, with our Juniors Disco, prizegiving and more to come.

​As we head into the very last weekend of the junior season, we look back with massive pride on everything our kids and families have put into this year. The Upper Hutt Tigers are a club built from the ground up, grounded in a hard-working, humble, working-class community. We work hard for what we have, and we never forget where we came from.

​It’s that exact grit and spirit that makes us so incredibly proud to share a massive milestone for our club's future! 🚀✨

​Today, our club President Tyrone and Chairman Tyler King met with Malcolm Gillies at the Gillies Group headquarters, where the brand-new junior playing kits were officially handed over to our club!

​While this season is drawing to a close, these fresh uniforms mean we are already locked, loaded, and ready to dominate from 2027 onwards.

​A heartfelt, deeply grateful thank you to Malcolm Gillies and the team at Gillies Group for stepping up as our main sponsor and investing so generously in our juniors. To have this kind of backing for our tamariki is incredibly humbling.

​Our kids will be wearing the orange and black with absolute pride for years to come, representing a community that knows the true value of hard work.
