Hey Any ladies out there interested in going along to see this woman? One of our members mentioned her to me - I had a look at her website and Facebook. She seems a wealth of knowledge and super fun as well. Should be a good night out.
Anyone keen? Tues 22nd Sept at the Mount Club.
Letโ€™s get together and car share.

It's never too late to pick up some weights.
The benefits far out way any risk you might be concerned about.
In fact, there is more risk to your health and wellbeing if you don't pick them up!

One of my regular class members at Summerset retirement village added some strength training 3 months ago. I did a gym session with about 25 village members, and got them set up with a strength training programme.

This lady came up to me at class the other day to tell me that her blood results (she didn't say which ones) have all come back better than they were 3 months ago.
The only thing she has changed - adding regular strength training.

She was so pleased and so encouraged that something so simple could make such a difference.
I LOVE this!

So, what are you waiting for?
Get in touch today and let's get you strong.

Now I know women aren't small men. Gosh, you simply can't get away from that saying. And I get it, I really do.
There are real physiological differences between men & women.

But, here's the thing - not all women are the same.
Women vary significantly from one another based on life stages, hormones, and genetics. There is not a one-size-fits-all for women.

Please do carry on listening to the info out there.
There is some great research for women in regards to exercise and training, and working with our changing bodies rather than against them.

But also recognise your individuality.
Just because someone says you "should" do this because you're a woman, doesn't mean you have to.
It doesn't mean it's the best thing for you.

I follow a few well known health & fitness 'experts' (some are surgeons, some have a PhD in health/exercise fields, some are personal trainers, physio's, or sports personalities), and often the information one person gives contradicts with what another says!

One says Zone 2 training isn't good for women.
Another says Zone 2 training is good!

One says you should fuel yourself in the morning - another is quite happy to wait until 10am to eat.

Now that is just downright confusing!
Don't let all the noise overwhelm you and put you off training.

You know yourself better than anyone.
If something feels good for you - then do it.
Love running - feel good running? Keep doing it.
Likewise, if it doesn't feel good - don't do it!
Hate HIIT? don't do it - find something else you enjoy that can give you similar benefits.

The core principles of training remain the same - build muscle mass and bone density, improve heart and lung health.

Don't know where to start?
Remember I'm here to help guide you if needed.
You're unique - let's get together and create a programme that works for you.

Hello Monday - here we are again!

So this post is really for me!
I really need to Just Let It Go!!
Frustration and anger over someone else's actions have been niggling away for sometime. A really long sometime.
It doesn't matter what it is I need to let go of - that really isn't the point.

But here's the thing - this is really hard for me.
I'm a highly emotional person (really Beks, we had no idea!!) and feel things strongly.
I often take things to heart, when I really don't need to.
I cannot change my fundamental being - and I don't want to. This highly emotional person is me - I don't need to be tougher or 'less emotional'.
But I have come to realise that I need to stop carrying the emotional weight of choices I didn't make.
I cannot change what happened. I cannot control external behaviour.
What I can do, is put my energy back into my life and redirect my time towards my goals, values, and peace of mind.

So, from now on - I choose to let it go ๐ŸŽˆ

Oh what good fun we had at parkour Te Puke Gymsport ! Colleen, Megan and myself went along to have a practice on the warped wall - training for our Ultimate Athlete Challenge!
The hardest thing? It's not the warped wall, it's your brain saying "ooh, are you sure you can do that?"
Happy to say we all managed it ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

We also had a bit of play with some of the other equipment - foam pit, trampoline, box jumping, bars. Just like gymnasts we were!?! ๐Ÿคธ
Hmm, this could be something new to do on a Thursday 7-9pm.
Open adult night, only $10 - we were the only ones there at 7pm. Had the place to ourselves.

If anyone is ever keen to go along, let me know - it's definitely more fun with others.
