Seniors Day Out - SDO

We had a fabulous time at the Kumeu Art Centre where we explored Vjekoslav Nemesh's brightly coloured pieces and even got to view some pieces by a local horse that paints - both are talented artists indeed.

After we enjoyed fabulous meals The Riverhead 5/5 stars for atmosphere, food, and service.

Next month we are of to Te Toi Uku Clay Msuem (Crown Lynn Museum) - I can't wait.

Next week we are off to the Kumeu Arts centre followed by lunch at The Riverhead. Certainly we have another great trip ahead of us.

Yesterday our beautiful travellers enjoyed the meditative tranquility of West Lynn Gardens in New Lynn. The previously very wet and windy weather cleared for us to reveal a warm slighly overcast day, perfect for meandering through the labyrinth of pocket plant and tree beds.

But that's not all we did, we started the day with an early lunch at New Lynn's Humbug Cafe. The food was absolutely delicious (I recommend the pulled pork, apple, and candied nut salad) and the owner was gracious and patient as a group of 11 senior citizens (pre-booked) descended on their roomy and comfortable cafe.

I'm already looking forward to our May travel day.

Our first 2026 travel day takes us to the beautiful Puhoi Farmhouse, home to photographer and artist Laura Tait. We’ll visit her garden and gallery, hear what inspired her latest artistic style, and learn how she creates her stunning pieces — a truly inspiring and intimate experience.

We’ll then head to the much-loved Puhoi Pub for a relaxed and delicious lunch (always a crowd favourite 🍽️).
