Mangawhai Junior Cricket

That’s a wrap to our 2024/2025 Junior Cricket Season. This was the first season of cricket for these Mangawhai young lads (year 5-7) and what a season they have had. Their growth was such a joy to watch each week. They were certainly the team to beat this side of xmas. Congratulations to Zac, Connor, Bekker, Cooper, Lincoln, Brooklyn, Ryder, Kohen, Monty, Leyton, Loki and Konrad who each week went out onto the pitch and gave it their all. 2 losses, 1 draw and plenty of wins were had but the best thing of all was watching these young lads play as a team and watch their love of the game develop. Massive thanks to our sponsor Covermore Insurance, our coaches (Karl, John and Carl) our parents, and of course Northland Cricket for the opportunity. If your child is keen to join for the 2025/2026 season watch this space.

Great start to the Mangawhai Jumior cricket season yesterday with the teams 1st ever game together. It was a fun day with lots of learnings and the team were really positive about the experience. Thanks to Maungakaramea team who made the trip down. I’m super excited about the season and thanks to all of the parents for being so positive and supportive.

Our 1st practice will be this coming Monday at 3.30pm at the Turf at MAZ. We have a home game on the 19th of October at 9am but we’ll meet at 8.45am for a bit of a warm up.

The cricket season is due to start shortly and we still need a few more players to make up the team. The age group for the team is for 10 & 11 years olds - so year 5 & 6, boys and girls. If your child is keen, please send me an email. Practice will be on Thursday after school for an hour or so. We have the gear and I’m working on shirts and caps.
