A few weekends back we jetsetted off to Palmerston North and met up with our epic mates at Swamp City Roller Derby. Always an incredible time hanging out (on track and off) with our Swampie besties. Thanks for having us! 📸Pieter Jansen... we love your work! 📸

🥳 It’s holding that opposing jammer as long as you can, and then cheering when they make it through your wall.
💪 It’s the quiet “just keep going” from the opposing blocker as you’re ready to give up.

🥹 It’s the “we are so proud of you”.

It’s community.
It’s family.

A huge thanks to Remutaka Roller Derby for hosting an epic TRIPLE HEADER. What a feat to pull off. To Dead End Derby Christchurch for a great game. And thank you to our teamies, those who hail from the mighty Bridge City and those who join us on the track as allys and friends…that we now call family.

What. A. DAY!

This is an epic video of our recent Graduation Game. It’s a BIT slower paced so you can maybe even get your head around how the game works a little bit. Keep your eye on the helmet with the star. They are scoring points when they pass opposing team players. Everyone else is… trying to stop that happening. Add wheels, go round and round, laugh lots… and that’s basically derby! We are SO proud of all of the rookies throughout our community, this was an amazing (and not overly slow/gentle/easy!) first game for loads of them! Eeeee the derby world is getting SO EXCITING!

This person has shown dedication to all things derby, progressing massively in their skills, stepping into leadership positions, never missing a beat when it comes to game play and even putting themselves out there to travel to games and join teams when they are going solo - they are friendly and welcoming and are always keen to help and be involved. For only having graduated at the end of last year you would never know they were still pretty fresh to all this - skater of the month goes to our curse word lover on the track… 🌪️ HURRICANE 🌀

We had the most epic-est of epic times celebrating our newest skaters across the land with a 🧑‍🎓 Grad Bout 🧑‍🎓 It was so much fun hitting the track with the freshest and fiercest skaters Aotearoa has to offer (and a few oldies in the mix for fun, eh Dragon?! 👵🏻 🐉). A huge thanks to 🌋 Volcanic City Rollers 🌋 💨 Sulphur City Steam Rollers 💨 and 🌊 Moana Roller Derby 🌊 for an incredible evening of derby. The best derby happens when we all get together to celebrate our community! ✌️

Our wheelie wheelie awesome award went to this rockstar recently! Gasanova is know for her absolutely stunning belches, and even more stunning moves out on the track. This trophy was awarded for her consistent support of others, her epic footwork, her glorious jokes and her ever committed attitude to always improve. Gas, you are a pillar of our bridge and we wouldn’t be here without you… and your burps. ⛽️ ❤️
