Big thank you to NZDA Gisborne Tairāwhiti for inviting me to speak last night.
It was awesome to catch up with some locals and let everyone have a look at the new gear.

It’s official.

Hamish Swann from our Gisborne-Tairāwhiti NZDA branch is the new NZ Free-range Red Stag record holder with a massive 473 3/8 DS measured and presented at the NZDA Expo & Conference in Wellington over the weekend.

An awesome achievement for this young hunter and an incredible milestone for our club in its first year.

The previous record was 454 6/8 DS taken in Kumeroa, Wairarapa by Dylan Manthey in 2010.

⚠️ Did you hear? Landowners/managers are now not responsible under workplace health and safety law for the ordinary risks faced by people who lawfully enter open land for recreational purposes.

The Health and Safety at Work Amendment Act has passed into law changes affecting businesses and workplaces but also has implications for recreation.

The new law contains what may be its most important - yet least reported - reform for hunters and all New Zealanders who enjoy the outdoors recreationally.
