DAWN DIP #6 | How We Do Anything
That was the reflection Awhina shared with us after this morning's Dawn Dip, and it felt like a good fit for the morning we'd just had.
The weather held out, and although I wasn't feeling 100%, I was glad to have the Do Crew there bringing their usual energy and intention as we kicked off June.
This morning also saw our regular dippers joined by initiates Tahu Heke and Ray, who met the cold conditions like champions. It's always great seeing new faces step into the water and meet the challenge head-on.
Afterward, we warmed up with soup, coffee, and a reading from The Daily Stoic. The reflection was "How you do anything is how you do everything." Dawn Dip is a simple exercise in doing what we said we'd do. Turn up. Get in. Support each other. Warm up afterwards.
The photos are a bit of a blur this week, but that's alright. The company was good, the conversation flowed, and the intention was there.
As the French say, "Se jeter à l'eau" — throw yourself into the water.
If you've been thinking about joining us, we'd love to have you along. Reach out and we'll get you involved.
Carpe Diem,
AP
Used a piece from Jaan Kaplinski last night to frame a presentation at Profile.Coachings Coaching Collective dinner.
Made sense to me. Poetry and people both carry meaning beneath the surface if you’re willing to pay attention.
That’s a big part of how I see coaching.

Cold one this morning—no surprises there.
Still, the Do Crew showed up.
After the dip, John shared a short piece from The Daily Stoic—quickly turning into our ritual read. Nice way to settle things. The chat that followed was a great with plenty of engagement and the Crew getting involved, it was good to see the group turning shared reflection into something practical—even straight after a pretty uncomfortable start.
A few of the group takeaways shared:
+ Setting goals that confirm to yourself you can do it—then stretching them further to see what you’re actually capable of, building your capacity for skill and achievement with a real focus on striving
+ Letting small wins stack up over time to build consistency
+ Not just noticing self-doubt and negative talk, but stepping in and doing something about it
+ Seeing the role challenge plays—helping shift the way we look at failure and use it as part of growth
+ And the bigger one… a group of people all choosing to show up to the change they say they want for themselves
These gatherings are serving us well—closing out the month behind us, and opening up to the month ahead with a bit more clarity and intention.
If you’re on your own path with wellbeing, growth, or just looking to try something different—you’re more than welcome to join us next month. Flick me a message if you’re keen.
Carpe Diem,
