Watching the opening ceremony today made me reflect on 2022. 🇳🇿🌿

Four years ago, I had the honour of representing New Zealand at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. A memory I’ll always be proud of.

This year, I’m watching from a very different place. After ACL reconstruction surgery last week, my focus has shifted from competing to recovery.

Sport teaches you that every season has a purpose. Sometimes you’re chasing dreams, and sometimes you’re rebuilding so you can chase them again.

Best of luck to every athlete competing, especially the team and other Judo NZ athletes.
Enjoy every moment, trust your preparation, and know there are so many of us cheering you on from home. 🇳🇿

When we say "it takes a village," this is exactly what we mean.

​From the parents rushing straight from work to get their kids to training on time, to the grandparents waiting by the mats for pickup. The ones who turn up even when they're injured just to show their support, to all the smiles, the laughs, and every single person cheering from the sidelines.

​Thank you so much to everyone who showed up last night to celebrate our Commonwealth Games athletes. Seeing the next generation being inspired and part of the journey reminded us exactly why we do this.

These amazing humans have qualified for the Commonwealth Games. They have been putting in the mahi on and off the mat and any little bit would help them achieve their goals.
