The Club’s first Centre Title awarded today!

President Ron and your humble scribe attended the Bowls North Harbour AGM & Prize Giving at Browns Bay Club this weekend in order to represent the Club and support Dean McMurchy who received the Certification and title of BNH Centre Singles Champion for the 25/26 Season from BNH Vice President Sue Rossiter. This is our Club’s first Centre Title and is a much prized Title to add to our two Pennants Trophies gained in recent years. Our congratulations go to Dean who withstood some formidable opponents before taking out the final against Mairangi Bay’s Matt Berry. The image shows Dean and President Ron celebrating the occasion at Browns Bay on Sunday.

⚽️🍻 ALL WHITES ON THE BIG SCREEN THIS SATURDAY! 🍻⚽️
We’re cracking the doors open from 2pm this Saturday so we can all pile in, grab a cold one, and cheer on the All Whites in their final pool game against Belgium.

The bar will be flowing, we’ll have a few tasty bites out for everyone, and the atmosphere will be peak Kiwi footy spirit.

Bring your mates, bring your noise, bring your lucky socks — whatever it takes.
Let’s pack the club and make an afternoon of it.

Greetings to All Club Members.

Another Season gone and another Closing Day, this one on Sat June 6th. A good turnout of our regular players, plus a few supporters and partners enjoyed another beautiful late autumn day, a great time to celebrate some of our Members’ individual and collective successes during the 25/26 year.

Naturally, President Ron Smith as Match Convenor chaired the meeting and in his usual clear and concise fashion - complete with a good sprinkling of humour – announced the winners of all Championship and Trophy events for the season. Regrettably a few recipients of trophies and awards were absent due to travel and/or family commitments, but their participation in various events was noted, especially that of our Mens Singles Champion, Dean McMurchy, who was concurrently competing in the Australian Open Championships and who had recently also brought home the Club’s first Champ of Champs Centre Title. A great effort Dean.

Another Club Trophy of note was the Kaipatiki Cup, an event created by our much-loved Member, the late Darrin McLay, to be played exclusively between Beach Haven and Sunnybrae Clubs in a Home and Away format every season. All Full Club members are eligible for selection to represent the Club for this Trophy, which is currently held by Beach Haven.

A report such as this is not the correct vehicle for a full summary of all events, but the attached 25/26 Table of Events will provide all members with a concise list of Runners-Up and Winners. This will also be published in the Club’s 26/27yr Handbook which is already in the first stages of production. Also, a selection of images of successful members and their trophies is also included for the record. Please contact the Press Office if copies of any attachments are required.

Following the completion of the presentations, those present enjoyed a most pleasant hour or so participating in afternoon tea and liquid refreshments in the sunshine. In closing out the afternoon, a number of keen fans of both teams watched the Super Rugby Quarter Final clash being broadcast from Te Kaha Stadium in Christchurch with a few going home later a lot happier than others!

Regards to All

The Badger
Press and Publicity Officer.

The great annual battle for the Bone of Contention is upon us this Saturday, marking your final chance to grace the green before it goes into winter hibernation for renovations.

This year we’re throwing the doors open – Social Members, Full Members, anyone with a pulse and a vague sense of humour is welcome. No club colours needed.

Please gather at the club at 1:00pm for a 1:30pm start. The format will be decided on the day, and we aim to wrap up around 4:30pm so we can all settle in for the AFC Semi Final afterwards.

Now, the big twist. In previous years it’s been Kiwis vs Immigrants. This year we’re going with something far more dangerous: age-based rivalry.

Introducing:

The Vintage Legends – seasoned, wise, creaky in the knees but deadly on the draw.

The Young Guns – energetic, fast, and still able to stand up without making sound effects.

Nature has already assigned you to your team

After the battle concludes, the bar will be open for a few frothies and the retelling of events that definitely didn’t happen the way they’ll be described.

28/04/2026

Tonight is our last twilight event of the season. The sun is shining so head down to the club from 5:15. The bar will be open and an optional meal for an extra tenner. See you all down there

21/04/2026

Afternoon all - the sun is out so make the most of the opportunity tonight to head down to the club for what could be one of the last twilight events of the season
