According to Nepal Chess Federation President Hera Kaji Maharjan (हेराकाजी महर्जन), this result is one of the most significant achievements in the history of Nepali chess at the Asian youth level.
Organized by the Chinese Chess Association, the championship concluded on July 24 and was played over 9 rounds using the 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment blitz time control under the Swiss system. Young players from 32 Asian countries participated in the event.

Silwal began the tournament with three consecutive victories, defeating:
- Chen Xinsuo (陈鑫硕 / चेन सिन्सुओ) of China (1741)
- FM Leonid Efimov (Леонид Ефимов / एफिमोफ लियोनिद) of Russia (2349)
- FM Dang An Minh (Đặng An Minh / डाङ आन मिन्ह) of Vietnam (2171)

Going into the final round with a strong chance of winning the gold medal, Silwal was defeated by FM Duong Vu An (Dương Vũ An / डुओङ भु आन) of Vietnam. Duong finished with 7.5 points to claim the championship title.
IM Christian Gian Carlo Arca (क्रिस्टियन जियान कार्लो आर्का) of the Philippines secured the silver medal with 7 points, while FM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma (माधवेन्द्र प्रताप शर्मा) of India also scored 7 points and claimed the bronze medal on tiebreaks.
