Final Session with Bu Sabom Nim Misita: We had a review of the basic use of some traditional martial arts weapons and how they can be adapted to already familiar techniques, traditional postures, Hyungs and certainly Self Defense including: Escrima, Staff, Sai and Nunchuck.
Part the purpose of Nepal Tang Soo Do and the study of the Art here is to bring about a renaissance of traditional real self defense martial arts, not to provide yet another another sport, game or competition based activity, which should not be considered prerequisite or preparatory for entry into career choices involving first responders or military, respectfully.
We vehemently follow Bu Sabom Nim’s preaching and teaching about the importance of understanding the sharp difference between what is “sports with rules” and what is a true martial art study giving priority to real self defense.
Though you may see a variety of age groups shown in some of these sessions, all ages are conditioned and trained with the expectation and responsibility of not only exhibiting our values but also possible preparation for instructor (not coach) law enforcement and/or military service for youth and adults. We see our traditional approach as a more competent bridge to such career choices, than what sports and games provide.

Closing Ceremony for the 1st Ever Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kathmandu City Police Tactical Self Defense & CPR Training. Great Gratitude to the Budhanilkantha Municipality, Mayor Adhikari, Chairman Suman, the Municipality City Police Department, our Nepali Atlantic Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation Members and supporters from Pheonix Martial Arts Academy!
We thank the Mayor and Chairman for their kind words and support of the program. We thank the Commander and all the police for their fantastic demonstration. It was moving to see how well they payed attention and learned so much, in only 4 days of about approximately 6-8 hours of training.
Our hope is that both Tactical Self Defense Training and CPR of will become a compulsory requirement for the future and that this 1st Ever training can be an example of excellence for many other municipalities within the Himalayan Kingdom Of Nepal in the future.
The Art, as we know it, is primarily about providing our first responders with the tools they need to keep citizens safe. We are greatful at Nepal Tang Soo Do to be part of that initiative moving forward. May this be a continuing reminder that the Art of Tang Soo Do is not a game or a sport but that it is a Self Defense Martial Art intended to serve and defend community and country!
Tang Soo, Moo Do & Community Safety We Can Count On!
