How I became a Perry Method practitioner PART 3:
I Used to Believe That Effective Treatment Had to Hurt
For many years, I believed that stronger treatment meant better treatment.
I wanted deep, painful massages.
I wanted chiropractors to crack everything back into place.
I thought that if a treatment hurt, it must be doing something important.
Sometimes those treatments gave me temporary relief—but the results rarely lasted.
More importantly, they did not teach me what to do when I did not have the time or opportunity to find someone to “fix” me.
The Perry Method® gave me a very different experience.
Dr. Edie teaches:
“Soft hands induce safety.”
When the body feels threatened, it may tighten, brace or protect itself. Pushing harder can sometimes create even more resistance.
The goal is not to fight the body or force it into submission.
It is to listen, provide clearer sensory information and create enough safety for the body to explore another possibility.
As Dr. Edie says:
“We’re not going to inflict change. We’re going to invoke change.”
That lesson completely changed how I understood bodywork.

How I became a Perry Method practitioner PART 2:

My Knee Was Not the Only Thing That Needed Attention
After the Perry Method Foundation workshop, I had the opportunity to receive a one-to-one session from Dr. Edie.
Of course, I wanted her to focus on my knee.
But the Perry Method® does not only look at the painful area in isolation.
Dr. Edie observed how I stood, moved, balanced and compensated. She worked with my knee, but she also helped me understand how the rest of my body influenced it.
While treating me, she explained what I could do myself to support my knee, keep it mobile and gradually make it stronger.
That was one of the biggest differences for me.
I was not simply receiving a treatment and being sent home to wait until the pain returned or her next session. I was learning how to participate in my own progress.
My knee has been happy ever since.
Of course, when I overtrain or do too much sport, I may still feel it. Anyone might.
But today, I can exercise. I can run again. I trust my body much more than I did before.
The greatest gift was not only relief.
It was freedom. So....... I could not wait to learn more.....

Most of you know I am not exactly a big social media user. 😅
I have always been lucky enough to find work through clients, recommendations and my network, so I never felt I needed to put myself out there.
And honestly, social media often did not feel very real to me.
But I have realised that if I believe in what we are offering, I should also be willing to share it.
So here I am, stepping outside my comfort zone.
I have two great passions.
The first is helping people to grow, to recognise their potential and to understand that they always have choices. With the right mindset, state and support, we can create opportunities to improve our work, health, relationships and lives.
The second is bodywork.
I discovered it while trying to heal from an old injurie, but I learned so much more. I experienced how strongly the body, mind, emotions and nervous system are connected.
That is where my two passions met: helping people to create lasting change, both physically and mentally.
And no, personal growth is not always pretty as we see it online.
It can be uncomfortable, messy and full of moments when we fall back into old habits.
But we learn. We reflect. We get up and we continue.
And little by little, change starts to feel more natural.
So yes, you will probably be seeing a little more of me here—from leadership and mindset to movement and bodywork.
There is no perfect path.
We just need to keep moving.

How I became a Perry Method practitioner PART 1:

I Was Sceptical. Then I Had to Adjust My Car Mirrors.

I met Dr. Edie Perry around ten years ago.
As always, I was sceptical—but also curious.
I had been living with an old sports injury in my knee. Doctors had offered me several surgeries and warned me that I might not be able to do sports again.
I can be quite stubborn, so I refused to accept that as my future.
Acupuncture often helped. The pain would disappear for a while, and I could continue exercising. But eventually, the pain and those occasional moments when I could barely walk would return.
And after 40, recovery does not always happen as quickly as we would like.
My NLP trainer suggested attending one of Dr. Edie’s Foundation workshops. Dr. Edie regularly taught movement, posture, breathing, voice and the connection between the body and our emotional state during NLP seminars.
I signed up, hoping that perhaps I would also have the opportunity to ask her about my knee.
After the first day, I was completely amazed.
Simply doing the movements and exercises during the workshop had already changed how I felt and moved.
The funny part came when I got into my car to drive home.
I had to adjust my seat and my mirrors.
Apparently, my posture had already changed.
That was the moment my scepticism turned into genuine curiosity.
What had my body learned in just one day?

What is it really like to learn from Dr Edie Perry?
People who have trained with her describe her as intuitive, perceptive and deeply connected to her students. They value how practical and easy to apply her techniques are—and how differently the Perry Method® approaches the body, movement and pain.
Some call it innovative. Others describe it as a neurological reboot. Many simply say: you have to experience it for yourself.
This October, Dr Edie Perry is coming to the Netherlands for a rare five-day European Certification Training.

My office view this morning in Bangkok.

90-minute workout. Coffee in hand. Laptop open. Working on the vision and contracts for IGTC Asia and Europe.

As I looked over the Chao Phraya River, I caught myself thinking…

“This is the best life I’ve ever had.”

And then another thought:

“It can still get even better.”

Here’s what social media doesn’t show…

It shows the view, not the years it took to get here.

The failures.
The tears.
The self-doubt.
The difficult decisions.
The sacrifices.
The countless times you had to start over.

Who wants to take pictures of that mess anyway? 😉

People often say, “You’re so lucky.”

Maybe. But luck never made the hard decisions or picked me up after setbacks.

For years, I only shared the highlights because I thought leaders had to look like they had it all together.

The truth?

None of us do.

So if life feels heavy right now…

Keep getting up. Keep showing up. Keep going—even if today you’re only crawling.

Rest when you need to. Then keep moving.

Your current chapter is not your whole story.

The next level rarely arrives looking like success. More often, it first looks like uncertainty, change, and a little chaos.

Keep going. You’re probably closer than you think.

"I'm fine." .......

Sound familiar? Years of ignoring the signals, pushing through the pain, and compensating... until the body finally says enough.

The good news? Those patterns can be unwound.
