One of the things I love about workshops is that we get to slow down and explore the “why” behind the movement.
This drill is one we used to explore shoulder flexion, upper-back mobility, and awareness of the shoulder blades, all qualities that can support poses like Downward Dog, Dolphin, Pincha Mayurasana, and even a more comfortable overhead reach.
The goal isn’t to force range of motion.
It’s to create better options.
Using the wall provides feedback, while the block encourages awareness through the arms and shoulders. As the elbows slide down the wall, we can begin to notice:
✨ Where we compensate
✨ Where we hold tension
✨ How the ribs, shoulders, and upper back work together
Often what feels like a “tight shoulder” isn’t just a shoulder issue. It can involve breathing patterns, thoracic mobility, strength, and coordination.
That’s why I love drills like this—they help us become more curious about how we move.
Movement isn’t only about doing more.
Sometimes it’s about noticing more.
🌿 Have you ever tried wall-based shoulder mobility drills?

“Mobility takes hours every day.”

Not necessarily.

One of the reasons people give up on mobility is because they think they need a perfect routine, lots of free time, or an hour-long practice.

But mobility is much more like learning a language.
A little practice, done consistently, is often more effective than occasional marathon sessions.
Five minutes here.

Ten minutes there.
A few mindful movements throughout the day.
Over time, those moments add up.
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is to create a practice you can return to.
What’s one movement you could do for just 5 minutes today?
