One of the battles a mom brought to Let’s Look at the Battle was social skills.
Her child wants to play with other children.
He wants friends.
But he doesn’t know how to join in.
When he tries to set a boundary, it can come out much bigger than he intended.
From the outside, we may see rude behaviour or an overreaction.
Underneath, there may be a child trying very hard to connect, without yet having the skills to do it in the way other people expect.
And “fixing social skills” can feel like an incredibly big problem when we see it as one thing.
But what if we looked at the exact moment where it becomes hard?
Is it joining the game?
Or hearing “no”?
When we see the exact point of difficulty, we know which skill needs support.
Where does it become hard for your child?
