Roland Garros '26

It's always special to get to play another Grand Slam, even if the result does not do justice to our level. We lost the first round to two top-50 singles players.

Given the level we were playing at in practice and even during the match itself, this defeat hit hard. It's easy to forget that, just two years ago, Roland Garros was a tournament I dreamt of getting into; now, it's a disappointment to lose in the first round there. That shows how our level has risen, and, with it, our expectations.

This is the brutality of sport (and perhaps also life) sometimes; the sport doesn't owe you anything. It will slam doors right in your face, move straight on, and leave you in the dust. That is, if you let it.

If you push through defeats, sport will also reward courage, resilience, and grit. What athletes understand well is that it is up to ourselves. We get to decide how we respond.

I choose to respond with a smile. I am surrounded by great people who strive for a little better every day. Passion, persistence, and process will get us where we want to go. Let's get it! 😤
