OKOTETE, 10TH NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ASSUME LEADERSHIP OF IYC WORLDWIDE

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has officially inaugurated its 10th National Executive Council, with Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete sworn in as the new National President.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Ijaw House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, marked the formal commencement of the new administration, which is set to provide purposeful leadership and advance the interests of Ijaw youths across the globe.

President Okotete, alongside members of the 10th National Executive Council, promised to promote unity among Ijaw youths, champion youth empowerment, encourage sustainable development, and protect the collective interests of the Ijaw Nation.

The event attracted top government officials, federal lawmakers, traditional rulers, captains of industry, youth leaders, and other distinguished stakeholders from across the Niger Delta, underscoring the importance of the leadership transition within the foremost socio-cultural youth organization of the Ijaw people.

SAGBAMA SET FOR APC 1,000-MAN SOLIDARITY RALLY

Everything is in place for the APC 1,000-Man Match Solidarity Rally scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 18, 2026, across Sagbama Constituency 1, Bayelsa State.

The rally will commence at 8:00 a.m., moving from Bolu-Orua Town through Ofoni Town, with a grand finale in Ebedebiri Town. The event is being held in support of the Tinubu/Diri and Akpe political movement.

The solidarity rally is powered by the Carrying Along Initiative of Nigeria (CAIN) under the leadership of Bekeowei Eko and coordinated by Comr. Oweitubo GT Peres.

FORMER OGBIA LGA CHAIRMAN INSTALLED AS CHIEF AGBOUL OF OTU-EKON COMPOUND

Former Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Ebinyo Marvin Turner, has been installed as the Chief Agboul of Otu-Ekon Compound in Opume Kingdom, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The traditional installation, performed by the Elders and people of Otu-Ekon Compound, was a colourful ceremony attended by prominent political leaders, traditional chiefs, community stakeholders, youths, women, and well-wishers from across Bayelsa State.

Among the dignitaries present were Chief Hon. Ebiango Egain, APC Candidate for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ogbia Constituency I; Hon. Chief Dan Igrubia; Hon. Prince Isiki; Chief Bright Nathan; traditional chiefs; political leaders from across Bayelsa State; coordinators of the Renewed Hope movement; community leaders; youths; and women groups.

The Elders of Otu-Ekon Compound said the conferment of the revered title was in recognition of Hon. Chief Ebinyo Marvin Turner's unwavering commitment to community development, exemplary leadership, and selfless service to the people of Opume Kingdom, Ogbia Local Government Area, and Bayelsa State.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Chief Turner expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Elders and people of Otu-Ekon Compound for finding him worthy of the prestigious traditional title. He described the honour as a call to greater service and pledged to continue promoting peace, unity, cultural values, and sustainable development within Opume Kingdom and beyond.

He also assured the people that the confidence reposed in him would inspire him to remain committed to the welfare of the community and the overall progress of Ogbia Local Government Area.

The ceremony featured traditional rites, cultural performances, goodwill messages, and celebrations, as guests commended the community for recognising a leader whose contributions have positively impacted the lives of many.

The installation of Hon. Chief Ebinyo Marvin Turner as Chief Agboul is widely seen as another milestone in his public service career and a reflection of the esteem in which he is held by his people.
