This is a man whom kids and even adults have modeled their careers and lifestyle around. He is an influence over a lot of things and people alike. So when he speaks, people listen and want to follow.

Now, this statement here and the likes of it is why a lot of people dislike him. I disagree with this statement. I'm sorry sir, but you need to credit people who have won these trophies alongside you for the successes. While it is true that before you, Portugal won no major trophies and with you they won some, that statement on its own spells arrogance and ascribes the glory to you without crediting your teammates' efforts.

That is where people will go and start pulling records to show you did not win any MVP in any of those competitions and you did not win the Highest Goal Scorer in those competitions as well. Learn to credit others and not just yourself all the time, Sir. Humility pays.

Now, compare that his statement to Leo Messi's own where he is crediting his teammates for everything he has achieved and keeps achieving. You will understand why the Argentine players behave to Messi the way they do and the Portuguese players to Ronaldo the way they do.

Again, that is why Messi fans will keep dragging Ronaldo and downplaying his efforts. You can't always say what you feel especially when there are interests involved and you're a person people look up to. Discretion should come in at some point. Portugal made you and not the other way round. It was their platform that gave you the opportunity to represent the flag and barge so give your teammates credit man. That is what Messi does. Do same and allow us fans to praise you and elevate your status.

That's why Messi is loved and honoured by players, coaches, teammates (past and present) and people keep defending him. Learn Mr. Ronaldo abeg.
