Is your choir ready???

As responsible Choir Leaders, it is our responsibility to constantly redirect the focus of the choir to why we do what we do.
We ought to always remind ourselves that the reason for the 'shows' we put up is not to excite the congregation of God's people, but to serenade the God that the congregation serves and have gathered to worship.
There are a lot of people-centered praise and worship flying around in our places of worship. Do not be caught in the endemic. It is subtle and will give you reasons why it's not bad. But it is bad. It's like gathering to celebrate a child's birthday while the child is asleep.
Check your motives. Sensor dance moves (this is a major cause of distraction and deviation from true worship), be cautious of popular adlibs, hypes or instrumentation borrowed from the world (this changes the atmosphere almost immediately - one minute you're giving God glory, the next minute your flesh is excited).
One good question to always ask yourself as an MD - Is God interested in this song?
If the answer is yes, then go ahead and serve Him (of course blessing the audience as you do so). If you cannot give a confident affirmation then pause, check your spirit and get a redirection from Heaven.
Remember, Flesh and Spirit do not cohabit. Light and darkness do not mix. New wine in old wineskins lead to ruin.
Have a great rehearsal today and a wonderful ministration tomorrow.

Dear Music Directors,
Refuse to let sentiments ruin God's plan for your choir.
Do not be sentimental in choosing a song, a soloist/lead singer, etc. The Holy Spirit will lead us in peace and joy, not necessarily in how we feel.
Avoid sentiments while dealing with issues pertaining to the choristers relationship with each other such as quarrels, arguments, disagreements, etc. Do not take sides, be fair and firm. Do not be quick to judge, do not speak when angry or from a biased point of view.
Avoid being sentimental when you must instill discipline. It doesn't matter who the culprit is, act in love and respect but do what needs to be done.
Do what is right.
Do what is practical.
Do what is best - not what makes you feel better or will not make a particular person feel bad.
Avoid saying stuff like "I don't want so and so to feel bad, I don't want to make him/her angry, I don't want so and so to stop coming".
Though you're not called to be a monster, you're not called to grease egos. It is better that someone feels bad (is remorseful) and takes the correction than to feel good and continue in error.
Do not encourage wrong behaviors.

"If it were not so, I would have told you..." [John 14:2]
If it was in today's Nigeria, Jesus would have said "I go lie for you?"
If you're about to make a purchase online and see that the payment gateway has been verified by Google Play Protect, you're more confident that your money 'no go loss', because Google already checked them out in advance.
God's Word is verified in heaven once it leaves His mouth. The fact that the Word was spoken is God's verification system. If He said it, it is active (Isaiah 55:11). It will happen just as He has said.
If it were not so, He would have told you. Therefore, since He already told you, you can rest assured IT IS SO.
Whenever you're reminded of the promises God made to you in Scripture and in your spirit, your immediate response should be "Amen, it is so".
God's spoken Word has been verified in heaven, you can go ahead and make a withdrawal from it. Let it be done on earth as it has been released in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Agree with God that it is so.
Your mind does not have to grasp or agree. Faith moves without waiting for reasoning to adjust. Your mind may catch up later but for now, keep repeating the phrase 'Amen, it is so' for if it were not so, He would have told you.
Have an outstanding week.
