My ex-husband takes our 10-year-old son on expensive weekend trips, and my son comes home very happy. Now, my new husband says I must do one of two things: either force my ex to pay for the same kinds of trips for his daughter, or tell my ex to stop giving our son nice things so everything is equal.
I said no because I do not want to control how my ex shows love. Because of this, my new husband called me selfish and said I am ruining our new family. I do not want to ruin my son's happiness, but my new husband is ignoring me at dinner, and it is getting hard to deal with.
