This morning, the Osun State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) joined workers and civil society groups across the country in a nationwide protest against the worsening state of insecurity in Nigeria. The demonstration forms part of a coordinated effort to draw urgent attention to the persistent threats to lives and livelihoods faced by citizens on a daily basis.

In Osun State, protesters took to major roads and strategic routes, deliberately slowing vehicular movement in order to engage motorists and passersby. Through placards, chants, and direct conversations, they sought to make both the government and the general public aware of their grievances, emphasizing the human cost of unchecked violence, kidnappings, and pervasive fear across communities.

In solidarity with this action, joined the Labour Congress this morning in the protest against insecurity in the country, with particular emphasis on the deteriorating security situation in Osun State. The participation of IlaBar underscores the growing concern among cultural and social spaces about the impact of insecurity on community life, creative practice, and public engagement.

The protest was largely peaceful but firm in tone, reflecting the frustration of workers and citizens who argue that insecurity has severely affected economic productivity, freedom of movement, and overall well-being. The NLC reiterated its call on all tiers of government to move beyond rhetoric and implement concrete, people-centred security measures capable of restoring public confidence and guaranteeing the safety of citizens.
