Kanem Borno Football Update

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has released the proposed groupings for the 2026/2027 league season.

The teams have been divided into four conferences, with nine clubs in Conferences A and B, while Conferences C and D have eight clubs each.

Conference A features Remo Stars FC, Edel FC, Godswill Akpabio United FC, Ikorodu City FA, Stormers SC, Heartland FC, Crown FC, Sunshine Stars FC and OYC FC.

Conference B has Beyond Limits FA, Solution FC, Akwa United FC, Smart City FC, Abakaliki FC, Right2Win FC, Dokkall Khairu FC, Ekiti United FC and Bayelsa United FC.

Conference C consists of El-Kanemi Warriors FC, DMD FC, FC Basira, NeuroSpark FC, Kebbi United FC, Adamawa United FC, Jigawa Golden Stars FC and Junior Danburam FC.

Conference D includes Yobe Desert Stars FC, Wikki Tourists FC, Lobi Stars FC, ABS FC, Sokoto United FC, Bichi First FC, Kada Warriors FC and Mighty Jets Feeder.

The groupings are part of the preparations for the new NNL season, with further details expected to be announced by the league organisers.

Ramat Square Football Forum Draws
The Ramat Square Football Forum Competition draws took place today at the El-Kanemi Support Centre FA Hall, Maiduguri, marking another important step toward the commencement of what promises to be an exciting football competition.
The draw ceremony brought together prominent stakeholders, football administrators, former players, and respected personalities who continue to contribute to the development and promotion of football in Borno State.
In attendance were the Borno State FA Secretary, Suleiman, alongside his assistant, Alhaji Mallam; Salisu Musa, Sports Administrator; and Bamai Zidane, an El-Kanemi Warriors legend whose presence added further prestige to the occasion.
Also present was the Chairman of the Ramat Square Football Forum, Hon. Ibrahim Bunu Bibi, a former Chairman of the Borno State Football Club Owners, who has remained a strong advocate for grassroots football development and youth participation in the state.
The gathering provided an opportunity for stakeholders to deliberate on the competition, conduct the official draws, and strengthen the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among participating teams.
The Ramat Square Football Forum continues to serve as an important platform for discovering and nurturing young football talents while bringing football lovers and stakeholders together through the beautiful game.
With the draws now completed, attention turns to the matches ahead as teams prepare to battle for glory.

NFF Invites 62 Players to Golden Eaglets Camp Ahead of WAFU B U17 Championship

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the invitation of 62 players to the camp of the Golden Eaglets ahead of this year’s WAFU B U17 Championship.

Head Coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse has called up five goalkeepers, 24 defenders, 20 midfielders and 13 forwards for the screening and training programme in Abuja.

The invited players have been asked to report to camp as Eboboritse, alongside his assistants Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa, begin preparations for the regional competition.

Nigeria will be hoping to build another strong Golden Eaglets side, having won the FIFA U17 World Cup a record five times.

The 2026 WAFU B U17 Championship is scheduled to take place in October.

El-Kanemi Warriors FC has announced a vacancy for Technical Adviser ahead of the new NNL season and CAF competitions.

The Maiduguri club is looking for a highly experienced, disciplined coach with proven success and CAF competition experience to lead the team.

The club also revealed it has retained some players while others will be placed on transfer.
