KANO PILLARS FC RETURN TO TRAINING AS GARO CHARGES TEAM TO CHASE LEAGUE GLORY

Kano Pillars FC officially commenced preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League season on Monday with the first training session held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

The opening session was conducted by the club's technical crew led by Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro, alongside Gambo Muhammad and Goalkeepers' Trainer, Suleiman Shuaibu, as players returned with renewed determination for the new campaign.

Addressing the team before training, the Chairman of Kano Pillars, Alhaji Ahmad Musbahu Garo, who was represented by Management Board Member and respected elder, Alhaji Abba Galadima, welcomed the players and challenged them to approach the new season with commitment, discipline and an unwavering winning mentality.

He described the 2026/2027 campaign as "a season of serious business," urging every player and member of the technical crew to give their all in pursuit of domestic success and a return to continental football.

Responding on behalf of the players, club captain Rabiu Ali expressed appreciation to the Management for its support and encouragement. He assured the Board and the club's supporters that the players are fully committed to giving their maximum effort to achieve the ambitions of the Pride of Kano.

Speaking on behalf of the technical crew, Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro thanked the Management for its confidence and support, assuring everyone that the coaching staff understands the expectations that come with leading Sai Masu Gida. He pledged that the team would work tirelessly to build a competitive side capable of challenging for major honours.

Also present at the training ground were Management Board Members Sharu Inuwa Rabiu, Bashir Idris and Engr. Usman Mustapha K/Na'isa, who joined in encouraging the players ahead of the demanding season.

With preparations now underway, Sai Masu Gida are determined to mount a strong challenge for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League title and secure one of the coveted continental qualification slots.

Kano Pillars to Partner with Sports University of Nigeria on Technical Development and Talent Identification

Kano Pillars FC is set to partner with the Sports University of Nigeria, the first specialised sports university in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, in a landmark initiative aimed at advancing technical development, football education and grassroots talent identification.

The proposed collaboration was the focus of a meeting held on Sunday between the Chairman of Kano Pillars FC, Alhaji Ahmad Musbahu Garo and the Founder of the Sports University of Nigeria as well as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Ned Nwoko.

During the meeting, both parties agreed in principle to work together on programmes that will enhance the club's technical capacity and contribute to the long-term development of football in Kano State.

Under the proposed partnership, the four time Nigerian Champions will facilitate opportunities for its coaches and players to receive specialised education and professional training at the Sports University of Nigeria. The programme is expected to expose participants to modern coaching techniques, sports science, performance analysis, player development methodologies, sports management and other global best practices.

The collaboration will also focus on identifying and nurturing football talents across Kano State through structured scouting programmes, grassroots football initiatives and talent development projects. The objective is to create sustainable pathways for gifted young footballers to progress into the Kano Pillars system and fulfil their potential.

Speaking during the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to establishing a mutually beneficial partnership that will promote education, innovation and grassroots football development while strengthening the future of the Pride of Kano.

The proposed collaboration aligns with the vision of the club's leadership under Chairman Alhaji Ahmad Musbahu Garo to build a modern, sustainable football structure driven by technical excellence, continuous learning and youth development.
