Let's talk about something I have been noticing about young people these days...The pressure to make it QUICKLY.

Everybody wants the soft life, the big car, the fine house, the money, the influence... and preferably before 25. Social media has made it worse. You see someone displaying a lifestyle online and suddenly you are wondering, “God, when?” without knowing the story behind the lifestyle.

I recently read a post and went through the comments. Some people were sharing stories of brothers and cousins who, in the desperation to make money quickly, went to a baba/spiritualist who gave them some “special” soap or substance to use. Instead of the promised breakthrough, they ended up with serious negative reactions and consequences.

See eh... SHORTCUTS CUT SHORT.

Read that again slowly.

Shortcuts. Cut. Short.

Anything worth having requires a process.

You cannot bypass every process and expect a perfect outcome. There are things that take time to build: character, skills, wisdom, relationships, credibility, wealth and even success. And please, don't let somebody else's Instagram display put you under pressure to destroy your own life.

Not everything you see online is real. Not every person showing money is successful. Not every person giving you a "quick way" has your best interest at heart. And not every opportunity that promises “make money fast” is an opportunity.

Young person, breathe.
Build.
Learn.
Work.
Pray.
Ask questions.
Seek legitimate opportunities.
And be very careful about who you follow and where they lead you in your desperation for a quick fix because sometimes, the thing that looks like a shortcut is actually a very long road to recovery.

Quick fixes can fixate your destiny. I said I wasn't going to preach, so let me stop here.

One last word though... If it will be a word ni... Lol

Don't let the pressure to make it quickly make you lose yourself completely. Your journey may be slower than someone else's but it's "your" journey. Keep going. Build it right. Build it to last.

Parents with "difficult" children... I have a little secret for you today.

Before you conclude that your child is "stubborn," "problematic," "impossible," or "beyond repair," read this first.

One thing my years of working with children and teenagers have taught me is that every child has both strengths and struggles.

There is no child made up of 100% bad. Even the child who seems to test your patience before breakfast has something beautiful inside of them.

The question is: What are you watering?

Children naturally repeat the behaviours that receive the most attention. In psychology, this is known as positive reinforcement. When appropriate behaviour is consistently noticed, encouraged, and praised, it is more likely to happen again.

Now, I'm not saying you should ignore wrong behaviour. Wrong is still wrong, and children need boundaries, correction, and consequences.

But here's where many of us miss it...Some children hear ten negative comments before they hear one positive.

After hearing this repeatedly, some children begin to believe that's who they are. And when a child believes, "I'm the troublesome one anyway," they often keep acting like it.

Instead, become a detective. Look for the good. No matter how rare or tiny or insignificant...Maybe she told the truth even though it was hard. Maybe he tried again after failing.

Catch those moments. Celebrate them.

The more you reinforce the behaviours you want to see, the more likely they are to grow.
Think of it like watering a garden. The flowers you water will flourish. The weeds don't disappear overnight, but they become much easier to manage when the flowers are stronger.

So today, instead of spending all your energy pointing out what is wrong, intentionally look for what is right.

You may be surprised by how much of it has been there all along. And when you begin to consistently nurture the good while lovingly correcting the wrong...You might just find yourself saying,
"Where has this child been all this while?"
The child was always there.
They simply needed someone to help the best in them grow. Try it... and come back to tell me how it went. I look forward to your testimony.

NO ONE LIKES TO WAIT!
We live in a world where almost everything is instant.
Instant noodles.
Instant messages.
Instant transfers.
Instant results.
Even when the internet takes 5 seconds to load, somebody is already asking, “What is wrong with this network?!” So naturally, we have become very uncomfortable with waiting.

A teenager wants the phone NOW.
The parent wants the child to “grow up and get sense” NOW.
We want the admission, the job, the relationship, the breakthrough, the answer, the opportunity…NOW. NOW. NOW!

But sometimes, life will demand that you wait. And sometimes, God will ask you to wait.

Isaiah 40:31 says: “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles…”

Waiting on God is not the same as doing nothing. Waiting is not folding your arms, lying on the bed, refreshing your WhatsApp every five minutes and asking, “God, when?”

Waiting is active trust. It means you keep doing what you are supposed to do while trusting God with what you cannot control. You study while waiting for your results. You prepare while waiting for the opportunity. You build your character while waiting for the relationship. You develop your skills while waiting for the platform. You pray while waiting for the answer. You keep showing up while trusting God to determine when the result will come. Because sometimes, God is not just preparing the thing you are waiting for. He is preparing YOU for the thing you are waiting for. And that part can be uncomfortable.

A teenager may be praying, “God, give me freedom!” But God may be saying, “First, let me teach you responsibility.”

A parent may be praying, “God, change this child!” And God may gently be saying, “While I'm working on your child, let me work on your patience too.”

Sometimes the waiting season is actually a training season.
It teaches patience.
It develops endurance.
It builds character.
It strengthens faith.
It teaches you to trust God beyond what you can see. And most importantly, it reminds you that your timing is not always God's timing. If you are waiting, don't waste the wait.
