KMS YOUTH SOCCER – FOCUS ON GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL

At KMS Youth Football, the development of the grassroots game holds a special place in our structured program! It is grassroots football where our lifelong love for football begins. Playing with friends in a safe environment guided by Coaches
and supported by parent. Each of us cherishes those early lessons
and the friendships formed in these sessions.

The grassroots game is vital to ensuring the long-term health and growth of football. It is also a vehicle for education, personal development and mental health, and can have a hugely positive impact on our young players and society in general.

Grassroots football helps to:
teach positive values
promote healthier lifestyles
unite communities
create employment and personal development opportunities

Growing grassroots football is not only about increasing the number of players. It is also about improving the quality of
football provision to all our players. The aim is to provide a better

Friendly Matches : El Roi FA vs KMS Youth Soccer (U8, U10/12 & U14/15) - 23 Aug 2026

Today’s friendly series between El Roi FA and KMS Youth Soccer brought together three age groups—U8, U10/12, and U14/15—for a vibrant day of football filled with excitement, learning, and spirited competition. The atmosphere around the pitch was lively from start to finish, with parents, coaches, and teammates cheering on every moment of creativity and effort.
⚔️ U14/15: High Tempo & Strong Transitions
The oldest group delivered the most intense fixture of the day. The U14/15 players demonstrated sharper decision making, disciplined defending, and fast transitions from back to front. Both teams created meaningful chances through intelligent build up play and well timed runs. The match remained challenging throughout, pushing players to think quickly, communicate effectively, and maintain composure under pressure.
🔄 U10/12: Growing Awareness & Smart Play
The U10/12 matches displayed a noticeable jump in tactical understanding. Players from both sides experimented with combination play, quick passing sequences, and structured movement off the ball. El Roi FA and KMS Youth each had periods of dominance, with midfield battles shaping the rhythm of the game. The competitiveness was evident, but so was the sportsmanship—players encouraged each other, adapted to pressure, and showed maturity beyond their age.
🌟 U8: Pure Energy & Expression
The youngest group set the tone early with their infectious enthusiasm. This group was the most intensive. The U8 players showed fearless dribbling, quick sprints, and plenty of imaginative play. Both teams encouraged freedom on the ball, resulting in end-to-end moments and joyful celebrations. Even when challenged, the players responded with determination and teamwork, showing great promise for their future development.

🎉 Overall Atmosphere & Takeaways
Across all age groups, the friendlies succeeded in their purpose: development, enjoyment, and exposure to competitive yet supportive football. Coaches from both academies praised the creativity shown by the players, the willingness to try new ideas, and the resilience displayed during challenging moments. It was a day that highlighted not just talent, but character—teamwork, respect, and a genuine love for the game.

KMS YOUTH SOCCER – FUN WITH THE BALL
At KMS Youth Soccer, we are aware that the reality is that many of our young players only practice once a week. With so little time, every minute counts. At a young age, players develop both their technical skills and a love for the beautiful game. However, the challenge for our coaches is to strike a balance between structured learning and fun, with such limited time on the grass.
Our coaches focus on three clear principles to make these sessions the most effective they can be: start with fun warm-ups, utilise mini-games to keep players active and creative, and always end with real-game application.
KMS Coaches make the most of the training by designing sessions that are exciting, engaging and purposeful. KMS Youth Soccer age-appropriate activities will help coaches develop players’ skills and nurture their passion for the game. All activities are conducted with each player having a ball to practice and refine their technical skills.

KMS Youth Soccer - Grassroots Football - The Game is the Best Teacher

At KMS Youth Soccer, we believe that in grassroots football, the game itself is often the best teacher. When young players start and end a session with normal play, they learn naturally and remain engaged for longer.
As strongly advocated by FIFA grassroots development, the Play-Practice-Play model is a new child-centered approach that places playing the game at the core of every training session. By beginning and ending with normal play, coaches can create an environment that is both enjoyable and focused on player development.
